Justin Fuente fired at Va Tech

Packer was saying that there's been Coker, Shannon, Golden, Richt, and Diaz. Packer said the same revolving door has been going on at Tenn, USC, Texas, and recently at FSU. But he also said he understands that fans want winners. Durham seemed a little more upset about Manny most likely being fired but his examples were all based on the younger players. There was no mention of all the transfers, terrible practices, regression of players, and losing to mediocre teams.
Your first mistake was listening to these old fossils. Look at the hires Miami has made in the last two decades. Out of 5 hires, only TWO could be considered rational. TWO. Basically, Miami was hoping that out of 5 hires, maybe they would hit on 2. Look at other places, where you have rational hires made over and over, and you go from there. No AD shoots 100%, you have to give yourself the best chance at success. Miami hasn't done that at all.

And you’re getting one of two Miami and Ava Tech teams.

Miami -
1. Team that reels it in cause they see the writing on the wall for Diaz, somehow MORE undisciplined than last week and a blow out loss. TVD will manage to be worse than last week trying to compensate and coaches and coordinators either arguing or not speaking on the sideline.

2. All the things above, but scraping by for a win that should be larger for a team that lost an HC

VTech -
1. A team that comes out with its hair on fire Just to beat Miami.
2. A team who essentially reels it in but somehow keeps this game remarkably close.

These are the only options for this game. Notice how synonymous they are. Crazy times folks… crazy times.

Do some of you realize that you can’t hire a new coach until after the season is over regardless of how early you fire your previous coach? There’s not some line with a ticket machine like the deli where it’s first come first serve.

Also, Miami just fired their athletic director. You probably need to hire a new one before anyone can fire/hire a coach.

It’s very likely Miami will employ Manny Diaz through the remainder of the season. Probably because it will save them $2 million. If that extra $2 million can go towards our new coach’s salary it would be well worth it. There’s literally nothing to gain by firing your coach now unless your team is in such shambles that players are quitting and you risk losing a chunk of your roster.

As long as Blake is gone, Im fine with waiting. the UM football problems go deeper than just a lame duck head coach. The foundation needs to be rebuilt. Two weeks will go by very quickly...

Why would one listen to these mouth-breathers?
Worse, why would anyone care what they think?

Someone asked what they said this morning. I live in NJ and there’s zero College Football talk on the radio, I usually listen to the first 15 minutes on my morning commute, that’s when they have coaches or players calling in for interviews

As far as I know they're paid in installments. What I want to know is what do these benefactors get out of the whole deal, can't imagine that they like football that much to fork over millions just cuz.
It's installments....Just ask Taggert....

In general teams fire coaches mid season for internal problems, not results on the field.

USC mismanaged their situation with Helton, there's no reason to go into the season with a coach that you're gonna fire after two games. Washington coach had off the field problems, the same same with Coach O at LSU.

Fuentes has been done with VT for awhile, hit them with the "pay me and I will be on my way, please and thank you"
And why wouldn't you?

"Yeah we're going to fire you at the end of the season, but we'd love you to see the season out with the team".

**** that.

This has been coming for weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if they already negotiated a lesser buy out. Fuentes has looked and spoken like a beaten man for at least a month.

They mutually agreed on 8.75 million. On a side note, I live in VA, officiate HS football, know many many VT people. reportedly, one of their biggest donors said he would triple his donation if they fired Fuente at the end of last year.

We had/have the "State of Miami." VT used to have the 757 locked up. Recently, though, UNC and others have been poaching the Tidewater area. New coach just needs to reclaim Norfolk-Hampton Roads to win big again.

siap he settle for buyout was 10 mill. but settle for 8 mill. if VT waited till sometime in December they would of paid 7. intresting!!

I do not want to see Freeze at VT
I disagree. I don’t really think there’s many coaches that can be successful there. It’s a school with no winning tradition in any sport (they’ve literally never won a national championship in any team sport, EVER).

It’s a tough place to recruit at and they’ve got a ceiling.

Btw if you don’t believe me on the national championship thing, take a look. Absolutely mind blowing that they haven’t won ONE in at least one random sport.
