Justin Fuente fired at Va Tech

The difference is that the VT players don't like Fuente. Our young men are still playing hard for Diaz.

Secondly, you're not going to fire the AD and the HC in the same week.

Lastly, Manny's daddy stepped in to save face for the family. At the end the season, you will see the headlines say, "Manny Diaz and the UM administration mutually agree to part ways" rather than "Miami Hurricanes fire Manny Diaz."
That is 100% a true statement. We know a couple of kids who portaled out of Blacksburg and they were starters.

Seriously. Much better looking females in Oxford.
Oxford has some serious a$$, best tailgating experience anywhere but mannnn, over S. FL/Miami girls?!?!??!

2)Recruiting--Even when things are going well, VT doesn't not lock down the tidewater area. Schools like Penn State routinely take the elites out of the area, and VT then takes the second tier guys with the occasional elite talent. Beamer and his better staffs were masters at player development, they developed guys that were solid and made them into **** good college players. They would take those guys and combine them with the elites they could get and that would be their product. Keep in mind, Tech, even when Beamer was at his peak, even with Miami being utter dogcrap was usually a solid top 10-15 program, not a top 5. It took them getting a once in a life time talent in Vick for them to even sniff a National Championship.

Penn State really doesn't recruit that area . They get all their kids from the Richmond area and up. 757 is a crap shoot between all different schools. Ohio State comes down occasionally but its really been SEC/Clelmson/FSU/UNC getting those tops kids.

Guilty as charged. I wasn’t on the board at the time but I admittedly thought both he and Herman were gonna kill it at their respective jobs.

Fuente never got buy in from his locker room for whatever reason and didn’t recruit well enough to overcome it.

That is the danger of hiring a guy whose success was built on another coach’s foundations.

I still think Herman has the juice in the right place. I always throw out first year. He won 10 his second year at UT and 7-3 in a covid shortened playing almost exclusively conference teams. In a full season, that would have been 9-3 and he usually wins his bowl games. His losses were close. So that is 9-4 or 10-3 in his third year at Texas’ country club. Why do people consider that a failure?

Texas has a zillion dollars and can’t lure a big name coach. That tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about the **** show Austin is running.

He followed a “perceived” legend. Was doomed from the start. Always want to be the guy after the guy. Next coach will have a better time.

Man, it’s bout to be a LIT off season.

But how much did VT want Fuente gone?! Couldn’t wait a few more weeks??! Lol. Jeez.

I’m wondering if news coming out about our AD situation prompted them to make this change so quick.

Edit: Just seen Fuente had his own bag packed first. Lol.
Fuente has wanted out at VA Tech for the last 2 years.

He tried to get the Baylor job, but their AD didn’t want no parts of him.

He also interviewed for the South Carolina job before they hired Shane Beamer.

VT is expected to go all in on Sonny Dykes according to a 247 article
You'd think they would shoot higher than that but whatever. As others have posted, Hugh Freeze seems like a perfect fit there but if they don't pursue him, better for us.
