Justin Flowe in the portal

Didn’t this dude have a major injury like every year? Yet he has continued to work his tail off to make a return just to get injured again! Yall should be praising this dude for his relentlessness and dedication to continue to work. Rehab is excruciating both physically and mentally for these kids. Especially “5* can’t miss prospects”. Cam McCormick was in college for half a century and people praised him but this kid gets hate. Before the injuries everyone knew he was a beast. That being said, we don’t need to be cruiting this dude 😂. Not sure if he got injured again, but he didn’t record a single stat last year.

The only ones who complain about the results are YALL who get mad the players are able to make money.

You want players to stay unpaid & broke because it could "kill their drive"? WTF kinda insane logic is that?

You're in favor of athletes generating BILLIONS of dollars in revenue & not get any of it, for the sake of a mystified idea about the way they may act as a result of actually being able to earn a living off their talent.

That is absolutely crazy.
NIL is simply a filter for players to flame out earlier. Which is a side-effect, but tbqh, if a player doesn't make it because he gets satisfied with the NIL payments, he wouldn't have made it long-term. If he's talented and a hard worker, the money is going to hit, that's not an if, it's a question of when. And then, once the money has hit, the question is, are you willing to keep going or not?

The reality is this, NIL has enabled more universities to spend money on players and enabled more young athletes to support themselves and their family financially. The playing field is more leveled. It's the universities... excuse me, the NILs responsibility to spend, distribute and allocate the money. It's not the kids fault for earning the bag if the bagger believes that it is deserved. That's not anyones choice outside of the people within the negotiations.

But the notion that the player, who in the long chain of college football ends up doing the hardest work, sacrifices the most and goes through the most for some people to have entertainment on the weekends and the system to generate billions off of your head is not supposed to be compensated *fairly* is something that doesn't enter my head.

You can't have more freedom than that and, honest to god, no one in here is forced to watch, consume or even donate to collectives. It's not your money if you don't want it. But don't complain about a system that has ****ed young people for decades for allowing these young people to get what the market believes they deserve.

The people's desire to protect rich folks and companies and hate on the average and below-average people who could make it is CRAZY. You're fine with billionaires making billions but you're not fine with a college player getting paid... wtf.

I get what you’re saying but man it’s tough every offseason just watching college football’s corpse decay.
But for every corpse they're players that come shining through. It's not a one way street. Why do we give two fcks about the losers who decline because of lack of desire and we dont praise the players who bust through the struggles of life. Who gives two fcks about this guy when I can watch a crazy *** rb at Arizona or Boise state blow up on the scene. This chit goes both ways.

Idk what these crazy strawman arguments are on my post I already followed up on it.

This is where my head went. I suspect Flowe's underwhelming college career has more to do with his multiple knee and foot injuries versus NIL killing his hunger. Unless lack of hunger ***** up the cartilage in your knees and the bones in your foot. But I did not play ball beyond HS, so obviously I don't know for sure.

He should have played here and chose elsewhere, blew both knees.

Know one will pay NIL his worth is ZERO . He knows free lunch is over and real world reality is closing in fast .

Let him finish doing what’s best for his family in going back to Marley family to raise him again to mooch of there money.

EASY PASS HERE VERY EASY

Honest question, do we think the Ice Justin is wearing in that pic was purchased with some “huge” NIL package Arizona gave to a 3 year often injured backup LB coming off a 35 tackle season with a career of 50 tackles OR is it more likely he purchased it with a Huge pre-NIL Bag he got as the #1 HS LB recruit in nation??

Sports, particularly Football, is the ONLY sector in life in which people wanna control & regulate how much money someone is allowed to make.

If yall had this kinda energy with Wall Street hedge funds & CEO's of major corporations there wouldn't be such a massive cavern in the wealth gap.

But God forbid, a Football player make some money smh.

I feel your sentiments, however sports contracts are unique in that the athletes get paid either on potential (future) or past production (past) and generally not for what they’re doing in the PRESENT. Golf is different - win a tourney, get paid a lot. Don’t make the cut, get nothing. Major team sports don’t work that way. Real life (with the exception of the generationally wealthy) works much more like the golf model. I mention all this to point out that I’m not sure that your points regarding earnings of Americans compared to athletes getting paid is really all that fair.

That said, the only issues I have with these players getting paid is there are zero rules currently and I’m being asked to help pay for it as a fan/alumnus. I want rules for fairness for the teams. I want the tv networks to pay for the players’ salaries. I want to plop my fat așș on my couch and watch several games all day on Saturdays without being required to pay anything additional. Like the players, I too have a family that needs to eat.

I think Dee was saying that maybe the money hurts these kids in the long run? It doesn’t bother me at all that they are getting paid, but I can see his point.

There needs to be something in the middle. Its not black and white.

Players need to get compensated but the current model is ridiculous.

These conversations NEVER come up in any other profession.

Do people ever talk about how money hurts Big Tech programmers & engineers in the long run? Or Doctors, Lawyers, or Wall ST traders?

Money only somehow hurts Football players?

Bizarre.

Do Golfers, outside of literally Tiger Woods, generate Billions of dollars of revenue?

And in what way do you have to help pay for players salaries?

If you don't watch it on TV or pay for tickets, then how is your money contributing to NIL in any way?

Is golf as popular as CFB? No. Is it a billion dollar enterprise? Yes. Globally it is huge.

I don’t “have” to pay for salaries. I am asked regularly for donations, be it to Canes Connection or directly to the university. That is on top of any money that indirectly makes it to the schools via cable bills, tickets to games that I buy, merchandise that I buy and so on. I have donated plenty of times on top of that, yet the proverbial hand is always out looking for more. Again, I don’t HAVE to pay for any of it, yet I am asked regularly (weekly) to donate. All of this said, I still don’t have a problem paying players. I just would like a level playing field and I would prefer to not be asked over and over again for money. There’s a lot of nuance to this.

I ain't no versions of a y'all. I have never once said athletes shouldn't be getting paid. I literally said in the same message I first sent that we should've been getting paid all along. BUT THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME STRUCTURE BEHIND IT. this free for all **** is horrible. It leads to tampering EVERYWHERE,EVERY DAY. It's leads to kids just every day trying to renogiate for more bread. Not just their agents but themselves. It when combined with the portal just leads to kids going somewhere to get a bag and audition & if they don't like the results of that audition for whatever reason they either put their names back in the portal or renogiate to get another bag. Look at that karnley kid as an example. He came here for 410. Was gave 125 when he enrolled. Well now we told him he's gonna be a backup(as of now)he saw his competition and said I'm gonna keep this 125 and I want another 200 on top of I'm gonna clear it... Anyway acting like this is the way to go about all this is ****** insane. It needs structure period. It needs a hard cap. Kids shouldn't be making enough money as a college kid that they ever have to question what their next step is as far as stay, transfer or go to the league... Pay them fairly for what they are which is STUDENT athletes. For me I'd cap it dependent on what year they are in and that's it. Everyone across the board (based on the sport)gets the same set numbers depending on freshman, sophomore etc.

I understand what he is saying about killing their drive but either way it’s gonna happen. Cause they gonna get paid that money in the nfl then lose that drive? Like money shouldn’t change your approach to the game and if it does then good, we weed out the ppl who are just in it for the money and we get the ppl who actually got love for the game and put they heart in it day in day out regardless. Yes football is a way out but it’s also a profession

Not correct. Comes up when talking about basketball players too…weird

A lot of them do seem to go broke and can’t find gainful employment after sports.

And to be fair, I feel like programmers and engineers aren’t buying 150k chains and investing in their friends rap labels

On the bolded but to clarify are you saying he wanted another $200 on top of the $410 or that we gave him $125 of the $410 and he asked for another $200 on top of the $125?
