Just stop

Havent seen his team play much. What is his offense like?
Runs the football, solid unit play upfront, likes to take the top off, uses size on the boundary. Defensively he has one of the best DC in the country IMO in John Heacock, actually very similar to Manny but is more hybrid and does really stunt. They lost to Leach but last year’s bowl game can paint you a pic about the D and their win against Oklahoma can show you the O.

Why? He did it at Toledo just fine lol.

just because he doesn’t get 5 * guys doesn’t mean you have to worry. If that’s your benchmark then you’ll never be able to hire anybody at any of these small schools.
i didnt say he couldnt. im saying coaching wouldnt be a concern. hes clearly a better coach than manny and he would couldnt do worse at recruiting.

But but but he's not a Miami guy! We have some of the most myopic fans I've ever seen. There's a whole world of college football that exists outside of Coral Gables.

Everyone keeps bringing up recruiting. What about Diaz's recruiting makes you excited?

Checks all my boxes:

Young ✔︎
Never been fired ✔︎
Offensive minded ✔︎ (Oline coach XP huge plus)
Consistent track record of winning against peer competition ✔︎
Competitive against teams with superior talent ✔︎
Not part of a failed regime or overrated due to Miami connection or "Recruiting Prowess". ✔︎

He's on my list
You forgot he also runs an innovative offensive scheme.

That will likely be tied in with consistently winning against peer teams, but yes, doesn't even need to be innovative but modern scheme. Pace and space.

Stop with this Mario nonsense already and start talking about Matt Campbell.

- overachiever at ISU with wins against Lincoln Riley, Gary Patterson, Dana Holgerson, and Mike Gundy(with his back up QBs because he hasn’t played with his named starter til this year)

- Proven evaluator

- former O-line coach

- has an elite DC in John Heacock

- already receiving NFL interest

- flipped an albatross program in a year

- buyout of 7 mil (3 less than Mario)

Scream to the hills for him like Texas did for Tom Herman and tell the admin to make him say no. Stop with all these other guys until we know he isn’t interested.
Bro, I'm going to stop talking Scarjo, who is my future wife for another future wife, Emma Roberts

Why leave one stepping stone job for another. That's not a shot at Miami. All the most successful coaches we have had recognize if you win here your on your way to an NFL job. Keep hearing people crying about Butch. He used this job for the same reasons. Just left too early. Coker stuck around thinking you manaintain that level of success forever. We need to hire a coach with NFL aspirations. Not a guy at the end of his career or give someone a shot who has no track record. This is not a school to learn on the job.

If midwest guys won't leave the midwest how come I can't get a **** Dolphins game on at the bar in a sea of NE and MW fans?

There's no such thing as a Florida guy. They're all originally a "Northeast Guy" or "Midwest Guy" until they get tired of scraping ice off their windshield.

His record is .500 in the BIG12 over 3.5 seasons.

That said, the existing product at Miami is poor and I remain uninspired by this staff and HC.

Mario won 9 games last year in his first full season at Oregon and is on the verge of winning 10 this season.

He is undefeated in the PAC12 this season at 4-0 and has a .692 overall conference winning percentage after 13 games.

Both have similar records and would probably do well at Miami. Manny has the experience of being around championship football programs as a player and coach at multiple stops.

leaves out wins against Oklahoma, TCU, West Virginia, and Ok St. and doesn’t mention that he hasn’t had a healthy starting QB til this year...

My fear is we get our wish and they fire BJ and Manny, but we end up with a Strawley promotion (Hilarie Bass isn't going to let Strawley get fired) and/or somebody like Schiano as HC.

I dont want any coach I have to wait on to win, or in other words, that local recruits are in "wait and see" mode. So while I agree Matt Campbell has been amazing up there, its all about his staff hires for me. The OC needs to be a spread guy that goes for the kill. The OL coach has to be a tactician that builds 3* Gs into beast and 4* Ts into draft picks. The WR & RB coaches gotta stack 4*s with an emphasis on speed. I'm not a fan of the Wiggins/Cager types, I'd rather have Harley/Pope types. I dont care about TE or our tradition there. The D staff has to recruit 2ndary. I want the fastest most sound 2ndary in America. I want guys to say thats an NFL 2ndary. My concern with a guy like Campbell is the jump to the next level, consistantly out recruiting and beating teams like FU & FSU. Just my 2 cents.
