Just for laughs and to stir the pot....

My first post. Well said. The same coach that fans were calling Dumbo a few years ago now looks like a genius because of Winston.

FSU is going to sign the top-3 Wrs in the country! Dupre, Randolph and Lane...smh.

Yeah they might but after Winston goes pro after this season wouldnt suprise me to see FSU go back to all hype no substance like usual.
At least they got back to the top.

Jimbob has shown he can get them there. Golden hasn't shown that.

True, but sometimes its a matter of "everything just coming together". Butch had a lot of talent here, and couldnt get over the hump until the scrawny kid from California was able to lead the team the way it needed to be led, got the ball to the playmakers, and suddenly Butch looked like a genius.

Jimbo has had a ton of talent up there and hadnt done jack. He finally caught lightning in a bottle with Winston, and it now makes him look like a genius.

Mack Brown had been sitting on top recruiting classes for years and years at UT, and didnt win sh*t until he caught lightning in a bottle with Vince Young.

There are very few coaches who can consistently win it all or be the best. With better talent, even AG could have had 11 wins this year. And if he keeps recruiting the way he is, I think he will get there. Wether he can win it all, I think will depend on finding that special player, that "guy" that brings it all together. Often it is things like that which separate just a "good" coach, from a championship coach.

The offense did look different with Williams in there the few times he played.

A somewhat long term poster on CS who actually hates Golden, claims that he has gotten info for a "fact" that Ermon Lane is seriously looking at UM. That Lane told the staff that the reason most kids in So Fla were dissing UM was because they think the staff sucks and cant develop players, and that in response, the staff told him, that they had to strip down the offense this year significantly because of Morris. They supposedly told him that Williams knows the whole offense and next year the play book is going to be totally different, and that they are going all in to bring in the best talent possible, including going all in after TV, JC Jackson, and Bo.

This is almost 99% ceretain to be bullsh*t, but this dude is a major Golden hater, so for him to post some of this is odd. What he said about Williams too does resonate a bit, in something some players have told people privately, that RW really knows the whole offense and playbook more than any other QB.

Since its Sunday night and we arent likely to get any major news, and we are in the home stretch of the Recruiting season insanity, I thought I would share this gem for your "crootin" pleasure.

If this were true then why was Morris starting? And spare me the he was a senior bit or he was the leader. If these comments were really true, this just enhances the level of incompetence of these so called coaches.

sign me up for 12 wins, an acc championship, and a bcs game win any day. **** snacks, are people crazy?

So the coaching staff left Williams on the bench just because? That makes sense.

Actually scratch that, with the rampant dumb****ery these coaches engage in, I suppose it is plausible.

True I agree Jimbo is a better gameday coach but lets not forget Ponder and Manuel were 1st round NFL picks deserving or not. But you give any coach a QB like Winston and they will make you look **** good.

Wouldnt that kinda make Jimbo a QB guru in one form or another? Just sayin they look like they will be fine at the QB position even after Winston is gone, as long as Jimbo is there......

Everyone seems to remember the Ryan Williams we saw vs Savannah State in mop up duty. Everyone seems to forget the Williams we saw in a do or die situation vs UNC. Both are unfair situations to evaluate him for next season.

I think the best realistic situation we can hope for is that our RBs get healthy. And stay healthy. Couple this with a beastly and deep offensive line, if he can get first downs by spreading the ball around to our playmakers and limit mistakes then we can improve from last season.

If Williams had a better understanding of the playbook then why was Morris the starter? I would take a full playbook and a slightly worse QB over what Morris produced with the sheltered version of the playbook

It should also not surprise anyone that this staff is blaming anyone but themselves. 6-6 again

The nearest alligator is always the biggest.

No way Williams can do worse than Morris.

Our problem is the damned defense. Scheme, personnel placement, personnel matchups, and the most **** poor game management since the sixties.

Morris' inability to read the defense and adjust, especially on third down is what kept that inept defense on the field. We need a game manager, not a home run hitter. Ichiro not Steve Balboni...yeah I said it.

Now I agree that Jimbo has shown he can get guys there but while I in no way wanna give Golden a pass for bad choices or failed ideas, I think its fair to say that he kinda had a pretty big NCAA problem looming pretty large over his head until now. I know its over now but relationships have already been made.

Also helps when you are winning, and entrance grades aren't an issue my man.

I love how Jimbo gets zero credit for recruiting, landing, and developing Jameis. The kid just walked onto their campus in a helmet and asked if he could play, I guess. No credit to Jimbo.

Oh, and before he landed Jameis he won 31 games over 3 years. 10, 9, and 12 games, while going 3-0 in bowl games with a BCS win. 3 straight trips to the ACC Title game and one Championship.

Not bad.

No, you want a HR hitter. Winston is a HR hitter. But if you don't have one, that's when you want the guy who's ceiling is lower but floor is higher. Williams doesn't have to be great at QB, he just needs to not be terrible. Alex Smith won plenty of games this year despite never attempting a pass over 11 yards. (exaggeration to illustrate my point) Give the kid a good OL, a good run game, and playcalling that isn't done by someone seemingly under the influence of angel dust and you can succeed on offense.

I'm having a hard time believing all that.

Maybe if you could rephrase it in a way Golden would present it because I can't see him just saying **** like that straight to a kid.

Also, like someone else asked, why wouldn't you just put Williams in?

And are they telling the scouts who come asking questions about Morris for the NFL how stupid he is? I guess they'll figure that out when they ask him to go draw some plays up on the whiteboard. I hope Gruden doesn't get him on that little Sportscenter segment.

This.

So people have heard it, and it's supposed common knowledge that Williams was better, yet this staff stuck with the kid who was worse and has to run with a stripped down playbook?

Very reassuring to hear.

I think we are thinking the same way on this one. I may not have expressed it properly, but my point was that you don't want a QB that either looks for the long ball or strikes out. Even when the short game was there, he was unable to adapt and make the reads/ throws. Of course we want a home run hitter, but when the time is right. My bad on the misconception.
