Jesus

So no Jurich, probably no Highsmith

And I wouldn’t be surprised if we start trending towards giving Manny another year

Unbelievable
It’s a **** show but I still think there’s no way manny’s back. It would have to be one stupid AD

So basically we'll have our answer as to whether they interviewed him if we hear that the search firm has quit.

Yep, I'm a tax JD/CPA as well.

I posted a question in another thread, based on reading another poster's post saying that the FBI/NCAA investigation is not fully and finally over yet. Never got a direct response to the question.
A lot of us here on this board, LOL

Sounds like the firm believes that this would impact their reputation. Frankly, it's their right to resign over this.

I have never been involved in using a search firm to find an executive but I have worked with engineering firms on projects. I would use the firm to come up with a list of potential candidates and then see which candidates fall on both lists and why candidates made one list and not the other. The idea that we have to select one of their candidates is dumb and the idea that we wasted our money by not selecting one of their candidates is also dumb. The goal should be to have an extra set of non-bias eyes conducting a search and providing feedback you may not have considered. This decision belongs to Julio Frenk and the Board of Trustees and no one else.

That's my experience as well. They take the list you may provide and look into those candidates, while also doing legwork to recommend other candidates you may not have considered. At the end of the day, they are paid for the work they do, not the individual hired.

I don’t know if anybody here has worked with a search firm.

I have.

The one thing about the search firms that I am familiar with, is that most of the time, in fact probably all of the time, they have a stable of candidates, and there are definitely financial incentives to hiring one of their candidates.

I think most people in the business world realize that search firms aren’t necessarily honest brokers, but you use them to widen the pool of candidates to look at and possibly interview.

My mantra in hiring people has always been that the larger pool of candidates that I have to choose from, the greater chance I have for making a correct decision.

So that’s why you use a search firm even though they’re not necessarily a 100% honest broker. To widen your pool of possible candidates.

Don't the search firm recommend who to consider for job? If they do then why would they even recommend interviewing Jurich? The university interviews people the firm don't recommend?

The "financial incentive" probably has more to due with getting a guy in that has worked with them in the past, thus potentially using their firm again for future HC searches and more financial contracts.

So the search firm said “if you interview the guy we know you actually want to hire we will quit so you can’t fire us and hurt our statistics”
