Because there were plenty of people who had high expectations & it wasn't just some Manny Diaz fans or Lanr Train conspiracies; most of the people who set a high bar this Offseason were absolutely in the Sunshine Kool-Aid category & pretty all in on Mario.

In fact, I don't think anybody who actually wanted Lane predicted us to win more than 8 games this year, the logic being Mario ball would have quite a few growing pains throughout the season which would cost us some games.

Most people on the Lane Train actually would've expected 10 wins or busy out of Lane. I don't think anybody who predicted 10 wins this season did so out of an ulterior motive behind Mario, the majority of the fan base, at least like 90% spent most of the Offseason swearing to the High Heavens that Mario was Cubano Saban & we were going to win just off his Coaching style & added toughness alone.

A large part of the backlash has been the fact that the same people who spent all offseason deifying Mario are now making excuses on his behalf & the math simply ain't adding up...

Now look at the ones saying it was a rebuild or to temper expectations. lol.

I’m fairly certain who those ones were & r.

I think Miami has an advantage over most schools when it comes to the portal. Honestly, we may be much better served acquiring the majority of talent that way than through high school kids. I just look at whose come through this school the past few years and, incredibly, all the players I remember being successful are via the portal. All the 5 stars we've signed have not worked out, for whatever reason. Look at this year, it's the same story.
I am definitely curious how this off-season plays out

Mario did some impressive things in the short time he was here before spring. Yes he could have done more perhaps, but taking away the emotion from it, it was a bit of a minor miracle some of it

This season sucks and it’s a lost cause

But it also doesn’t mean that we will continue to be stuck in mediocrity so I’m curious to see what happens

A lot must change of course

I thought we were somewhere in the middle of yes, needing to rebuild, but also winning the coastal because it shouldn’t need a total rebuild to do that

It’s shocked me to learn that apparently this was unrealistic

I'll take the blame...

It's my fault we suck.

I apologize to the rest of the fan base, I promise it won't happen again, you guysm just gotta give me some time.

In fairness, you just need time to get your guys in…

Then you’ll have changed your culture and be back in the win column…

Recruiting last winter was a minor miracle.

Portal…. could have been stronger

I see your point and don’t hate it… but we’d basically be Nebraska of the south at that point. Bunch of fan support for a losing team with not a ton of hope. Just the way I see it
Just for a couple years. THen we turn up the heat if it's not up to par.

Eventually? OK, lol.

No fun, too much fun
No dancing, too much dancing
Not coaching hard enough, coaching too hard.
Media blames coach, coach blames media
Mom's blame coach, coach blames players.

When will an adult stand up and take responsibility?
December'21. President Frenk & the university finally decided make a financial commitment to the program.

Winning is fun.
Dance when you win.
Winning erases coaching gripes.
Winning quiets the media, parents, players, coaches.

We have the solution. Just can't reach it yet.

Man, there were some scorching takes in that thread...

If only we had been at the games then we would have won......

Call me cheap or whatever but im not spending my money to watch this ****. I had planned on 3 games this season. That ship sailed after mtsu.

Ill take the blame though..... but i want my 8 million dollars.

I know this is a joke, but I genuinely think there are some people on this board who enjoy watching us lose. They would rather be right about their predictions instead of seeing the program find success.

No real fan enjoys losing but on the other side, be willing to admit Mario fu6ked big time by hiring a stubborn dunce like Gattis inspite of warnings from those who worked with him....

Bum spends all spring and summer trying to shove his archaic misfit O down the players throats.... and now that it got blown up, he starts throwing the ball 100 times a game with the entire O confused and discombobulated.

All he had to do was keep the offense humming from last year, with Heisman contender coming back. Nope, he had to *** it up. Then blame the players midseason, after he screwed it up with his misjudgment.

It is no wonder we are seeing what we are seeing. It was evident from game 1 that this f001 was stubborn as he11, including running the ball into the teeth of the defense over and over again. He is clueless ....and stubborn.... a killer combo last seen from D'No.

If Mario doesn't get rid of him... we will see a repeat of the last 10 years

Portal…. could have been stronger

Agreed but still very good.

Parrish is our best RB, Young is our best WR, Mesidor is our best defensive player. That alone is impressive.

Go back some years:

2019: KJ
2020: D'Eriq, Jose Borregales, Bolden, Roche, Phillips
2021: Rambo, Tyrique
2022: Parrish, Young, Mesidor

I mean, those are key players on all those teams who are outperforming naturally recruited players. I say f*** it and go all in on the portal for next year. Bring in experienced guys to right the ship and recruit the super athletes you need out of high school. Trying to change the culture with young guys is very difficult because they aren't going to be playing as much.

I’m good with the majority of the portal grabs by Mario. I also think he got started too slow and we had other needs that were left unmet.

Great job in a short amount of time, but misses.

It worked for Mich St last year. Cost them this season. Balance is key & probably hard to achieve when transitioning. For 8 million a year, a coach should be able to execute it.
