That’s the textbook effect of parasocial relationships. A lot of fans start feeling like these media guys are friends or personal representatives of the sport, so when someone critiques them, it feels like a personal attack.

For mine - how could any media guy trust Miami? We've been fool's gold for years.

Yes, I think this team is different to previous iterations, but that's because I live and breathe the stuff. For a media guy that's got to cover 60+ teams seriously - Miami hasn't left home yet, we chronically wilt in the spotlight and Cristobal has a habit of bringing us down to the level of our opponents. Why would he lavish them with praise?

Even as a fan I'm still in "put up or shut up" mode with this team. Go on the road and take care of business with FSU and then I'll start believing.
