Cam Vaughn coming back?
These injuries suck and Marty was my favorite player on the team so seeing him get hurt bad ruined the game for me.
But pretty much all of these injuries had zero to do with playing on the turf. We need to stop this nonsense. SMH
Mensah got hit, Fletcher got a stinger, Mali strained himself reaching for the pass, Moore got hurt on a pile up, etc.
Can’t speak for Marty but looked more due to getting tackled in a way where his leg got twisted. Just severely unlucky.
Don’t even remember when i stopped seeing Moore on the field, but that might’ve been why lofton got a lot of targets in the 2nd half.
We’re going to have to play Parris although Wingo/Spafford/Jacobs will get a lot of burn; Parris is the only one who can substitute what Moore meant for us on 3rd down, in the redzone and with the deep ball
I think it was very late in game … he went out then i saw him back out on field..We’re losing dudes that didn’t even get hurt in the game??
Agreed. Injuries are the unpredictable and unfortunate part of football.I'm gonna try to be an optimistic boy right now, so here goes:
Before the season, I think everyone was in agreement that our deepest positions were, in no particular order, RB, WR, and CB.
So, if you *have* to lose kids long-term, well, it's an RB, WR, and then a corner is out for a while, but maybe not all year.
We should be able to absorb these. I hate it for the kids, obviously. And for the team, Marty and Moore were expected to be big contributors this year.
But if you tell me, for the rest of the season, I can have a *HEALTHY* RB room of Fletcher, Pringle, Lyle, and Mallory, I'll take it.
And if you tell me, for the rest of the season, I can have a *HEALTHY* WR room of Mali, Barkate, Upshaw, Jacobs, Wingo, Parris, Spafford, I'll take it.
And if you tell me, for the rest of the season, starting in October, I can have a *HEALTHY* CB room of Lucas, EOC, Antoine, and Brown, I'll take it.
We can absorb this and be fine. But some of these kids MUST step up. I'm looking at you, Jordan Lyle. I'm looking at you, Girard Pringle. I'm looking at you, Xavier Lucas (you need to get your *** back and be 100.0%, real soon). I'm looking at you, Cooper Barkate. I'm looking at you, Daylyn Upshaw.
We have plenty of talent in these rooms. All this really does is condense the touches distribution some. But there is still plenty of dudes in these rooms to get us where we wanna go. This just has to be it, on the injury front. This is crazy.
Is there any data that injuries are more likely in physical, hard fought games than lesser ones where you can play backups and distribute snaps? You’re our data guy?!! Ha. Come on, my bro.Eh. Is there any data saying kids get hurt more in ACC games than they do in OOC games? I doubt it. Football is a violent, contact sport. You can get hurt seriously just practicing it. I don't think I put much stock into a higher proportion or likelihood of kids getting hurt against, say, Clemson or ND, than they do against Wake Forest or Stanford.

Why not Wingo?Don’t even remember when i stopped seeing Moore on the field, but that might’ve been why lofton got a lot of targets in the 2nd half.

I graduated hs in 82 … looked like the turf we had at fields back thenEven on TV the turf looked worn and slick.
Mali got hurt two plays before he stretched out for that pass. He got up holding his shoulder when he got tackled out of bounds on the longer completion down around the 30. He lands awkwardly on his left shoulder and gets up favoring that side before doing his celebration. Goes out for the next play then comes back in and stretches out for the pass. Goes out and doesn’t come back in until the TD pass in the 3rd quarter. These injuries suck and Marty was my favorite player on the team so seeing him get hurt bad ruined the game for me.

GotchaI said RB2/3. Meaning Marty was considered RB2 or RB3. I think (I do not know), if Lyle never decides to drive like an *******, Marty is probably 3rd in the pecking order to start the season.
Either way, he was obviously a big contributor last year and was going to be this year as well. I was alluding to the fact he was either RB2 or RB3, however you want to argue it.
Wingo will bring an element none of the others have, he is the most talented; but Parris has like a 6’8 wingspan which is about what Moore was working with. I just meant from a physical profile perspective, catch radius, etcWhy not Wingo?

Take care of business this week against Central Michigan and let the young guys play. Get out of Clemson 1-0. Get to the bye and reset, hopefully we start to get some bodies back by thenI'm gonna try to be an optimistic boy right now, so here goes:

It’s more of a comment on snaps played. More snaps are more opportunities for anything to happen. In the game against Wake I envisioned, Moore isn’t even playing in the 4th Q.LOL, I genuinely don't think so, but obviously am talking out of my ***. I have never seen any kind of data showing injury frequency relating to "physical" games. ****, what if Wake actually *is* one of our more physical games? You watched much of Clemson or FSU or the rest of these ACC teams we play? I don't see a lot of Ray Lewis's out there around this league.
I just think anytime you lace up the boots to play a football game, you have a chance of injury, whether you're playing Stanford or Ohio State.
