Jordan Seaton to Portal to Knoxville Car Wreck Guy (LSU)

We wanted him so this is not the staff’s position, but I’m glad we didn’t get this guy. Him and Levitt are cut from the same cloth. Bad reputations and family members running their processes.

That said, we have to figure out this OL. Too many misses in the ‘24 class.
Kinsler coming back an option?

I may have missed where anyone acted as though the sky is falling. Perhaps I did, I'll read back a bit.

But if you want to deny that the OL in its current state is not a legit question mark/concern, than you simply want to deny the reality and truth.

Here is what the facts are. We currently have 15 OL on scholly. 9 of those haven't taken a college snap. 8 of them are RFR or TFR. We have 2 OL with extensive game experience in McCoy and Okunlola, maybe a 3rd in Rodriguez.

Putting together a quality OL from the list below will not be easy. And I don't mean elite, just above average/good. Forget about quality depth, that won't exist with this current group.

Rodriguez (RSR+) 2 career starts
McCoy (RSR) plenty of snaps
Okunlola (RJR) plenty of snaps
Meriweather (RJR) minimal snaps
Minaya (RSO) no snaps
Alofaituli (SO) handful of snaps
Buchanan (SO) handful of snaps
Campbell (RFR) no snaps
Wilkerson (RFR) no snaps
Cantwell (FR) no snaps
Congdon (FR) no snaps
Ervin (FR) no snaps
Pickett (FR) no snaps
Sparks (FR) no snaps
Woodrow (FR) no snaps
There’s always the usual suspects that panic about anything. Unlike a very few on this board, I’m not an OL expert so I’ll defer to the experts in Mario and Mirabel’s.

Boy use to losing he played at colorado this year.... hes rich it doesnt matter lol
Just like Myles Garrett in Cleveland. Congrats on the sack record but yeah, has all that money and record to go with the L’s forever. Probably won’t go to some type of winning team until his last year in the league.

I’ve been thinking about the config of the line a bit since I posted my version of the starters.

+ You shouldn’t have a RFr at RG and a TFr at RT.
+ In 2023, Mauigoa and Cooper got worked a ton by stunts and blitz looks.
+ Miami will probably swap Buchanan and McCoy to have a veteran next to Cantwell.
Good point. I had similar thought after I posted that

Minaya is not a miss. He will be in the mix for one of the tackle spots. Spring and fall will be a battle for the starting tackle spots
Based on HS tape i never saw him as a tackle and really only saw him as a depth piece, with a chance to develop but a lower ceiling guy compared to someone like Kinsley. Big and nasty but stfff. Could things have changed? Absolutely, but if there's a chance he plays, i see him at guard with Pancake and McCoy being better options outside.

I’m curios what it cost lsu . If 8 to 10 million is what he wanted for a counter offer they have to playing him some crazy amount

Bain is a beast but i cant say that when you watched these guys below and im missing a lot more but these names pop out...

Bruce smith
Julius Peppers
Dwight Freeney
Terrell Suggs
Jadaveon Clowney
Bosa Brothers
Bradley Chubb
Myles Garrett
Von Miller
Terrell Suggs
Will Anderson
Derrick Thomas

Granted only seen film of bruce smith and derrick thomas the rest i had the pleasure seeing live .

Peppers freeney suggs changed the game
Thanks for this list. Pretty elite group of dudes. I didn’t see all of these guys. Now that I’m thinking about it without orange and green glasses on, I’m definitely taking Clowney and Garrett above him. Personally not taking the Bosa bros over him but they were great. Von was great but much more one dimensional (not nearly as good against the run imo). Didn’t watch enough of Chubb or Will Anderson to make a call on them. But I don’t remember them being as complete of a player and as good against the run as Bain. “Greatest DE of all time” was definitely a stretch in retrospect, but my god was he an absolute monster and I’ll miss him more than any cane I’ve seen.

Will Anderson was next level. Dude had 34.5 TFL and 17.5 sacks his sophomore year. Now he is doing it at the pro level.

No idea but it’s pretty clear LSU gave Lane an open checkbook to get him to move on from Ole Miss. I doubt anyone is outbidding them.

I do know LSU is paying an ungodly amount to DJ Pickett under his new deal. They got players all over the field making more than $2mm in 2026.

The state gave Lane an open check book*

Pretty sure Minaya is a OG anyway? Look, like several have said - our OL situation isn’t ideal at all and it’s okay to say that we have ?, because it’s true, especially the quality depth behind the starters. Me personally, I will let this staff do what they do and give the group a chance before I scream bloody mary.

Also, McCoy/Samson/RRod are 5th year, 4th year, and 6th year player respectively. These aren’t kids that are new to CFB. They are grown men who have been in this system for a long time. Yes, obviously there are 2 more spots with 1 likely going to a true freshman but again, let’s just see what they can cook up. I think this is the one position group that deserves that, a lot of time left before 1st game and a weak schedule up front to begin with 🤷🏾‍♂️.
Questions, sure. But the panic from some is unwarranted. Mario and Mirobal know what they have and what they may need. They weren't banking the entire season on a flake in the portal.

Remember how everyone thought Bell was mid this time last year, that same guy went into the playoffs and shut down every so called elite DE he faced. Now here we are again CIS questioning if Mirabal will have this line ready to win the big games.

The truth is Mario and Mirabal are the best offensive line coaches in ALL of college football. McCoy will be the 2026 version of Mesidor, the guy who everyone wrote off because he was playing out of position. Once he gets to his natural position, Tackle, he will blossom.
The Bell point is what I thought of when we lost Seaton. He looked awful early even against inferior teams. That’s why I know the coaching will always be top shelf. I am not worried about it long term.

I’m more interested who gets the nod cause I want that UGA transfer to move to RG
