Jordan Lyle? (Is not hurt)

I get rooting for Lyle - but "we'll need him" was being said last year. It turned out we were better off without him.

We're 4-4 in the last 8 games where Lyle gets a carry
1 of those wins (ND) he left early with an injury. It helped because we were forced to use Marty Brown
1 of those wins (Syracuse) he got shut down at halftime for being ineffective. Then our offense took off

The flip side is if Lyle isn't good - then force feeding him 5-7 carries a game is gonna hurt our offense.

I WANT Lyle to be good (I just don't think he is). I hope I'm dead wrong - but I'm nervous as to how this is gonna play out.

Chamar was a nice surprise last year and Pringle had a nice stretch until it was discovered he was a liability in pass pro.
I think people are also forgetting Lyle was sidelined with a high ankle sprain which is difficult to come back from especially for a rb.

But last year is in the past. New year and new circumstances now.

I’ll root for anyone that can help the team win.

Sometimes coaches just have "their guys". I'm just reading the tea leaves & IMO that looks like what's going on with Lyle.

Lyle's playing time & place on the depth chart are clearly based on what Mario thinks Lyle can be vs what he's actually shown on the field. It's projection over production.

Lyle had to be shelved due to performance in both his FR & SOPH years. It'll be interesting to see where Lyle is on the depth chart the next couple games.

It's not the best analogy - but if you play Fantasy Football...we've all had a guy we swear is great that we can't stop drafting every year - even though he's a letdown every year & your boys clown you for drafting him. Lyle is Mario's Kyle Pitts.

you're missing what he does in practice to give such confidence.
