Jon Richt is one of the 9 coaches

I'm not sure how serious Mark Richt is about winning here.

Seems to be more concerned with surrounding himself with people he knows and likes than going out there and signing up savages

Ya, I think I was watching a interview the other day where he stated that he was only wanting to win 2 or 3 games a year.

Why is Jon richt a terrible hire to be a coach?? He was just on an NFL staff that made a mediocre QB look like the second coming of Micheal Vick

lmao he had nothing to do with that he was a coaches assistant. are you sitting here trying to tell me that Jon Richt deserves credit for the Bills passing game?
yea he did, do you even know what a coaching assistant does Einstein

Maybe it's confirmation bias but I can't think of any coaches sons who have failed as assistants. Most seem to make it to head coach pretty quickly where the record is mixed but none are people I wouldn't have taken as an up and coming position coach: Shane Beamer, Derek Dooley, skip holtz, lane kiffin, terry Bowden, and Mike Shula are a few that come to mind.

It seems like a safer bet to me than hiring a former player with no coaching experience. Coaching is a lot different than playing, especially behind the scenes.

Jeff Bowden.

Brennan Carroll

Bill Belichick.

Brian Schottenheimer

do YOU know what a coaching assistant is? lol he was nothing more than a paid intern, a "teachers helper". he wasnt even an actual coach. i think your mixing up assistant coach with coaching assistant. lmao @ u questioning my intelligence and in the same breath giving Jon fkin Richt credit for Tyrod Taylor and the bills passing game lol cant make this stuff up

Hmmm, skipped ahead to see if this relentless boring thread had reached some sort of conclusion or an agreement to disagree...apparently not. So I will declare it officially going nowhere and recommend it be ignored by all.

It's glorified quality control not a "teachers helper" don't try to argue with me my dad has been an NFL scout for 20 years I know what every position does

I have no problem with this. Jon Richt is going to be Mark's right hand man in the same way Kendal is Art's right hand man and Ryan Cubit is Bill Cubit's right hand man. They'll be coaching a little bit, but doing a lot of staff dirty work and organizing while they learn and develop as coaches and strategists.

lol keep reaching. your dad can be vince lombardi for all i care. doesnt change the foolishness of your statement. if you tell me that jon richt deserves some type of credit for the development of tyrod taylor you obviously have no clue what you are talking about. and thats being nice, bc the level of ignorance (or maybe just homerism) in that opinion is strong

I still haven't heard the names of any veteran established coaches who were going to come here and watch Richt Sr. coach the QBs and call plays.

When the veteran HC has determined that he wants to coach QBs and call plays your pool of QB coach and co-OC candidates is going to be limited to young guys who want to learn from Richt and don't have an "I demand to be the guy" ego or maybe you could get an old washed up hack who is unemployed and would be happy cashing a check while mumbling "I wouldn't have done it that way because Earl Morral used to call his own plays when I coached him."

If you guys think an established rising play caller or QB coach was going to come here to watch Richt you're probably nuts.

I remember when Coach L got hired. Heard multiple people say Miami was showing how little they cared about winning. L was obviously going to South Beach just to retire. Savage count was too low.

lazy excuse. so there is nobody in the country more qualified than jon richt that would be willing to take the job? if thats the case we wouldve been better off keeping coley.

Too much sunshine in every Coach L photo.

Richt would have been a great person for Coley to learn from but would Coley have stayed in that capacity?

What unique qualifications that Jon Richt doesn't have are necessary to watch Mark Richt coach QBs and help impart Mark's ideas to the QBs? Why wouldn't a guy who played QB all his life, worked under his dad for a year at UGA and did an apprenticeship in the NFL for a year under NFL coaches have those skills?

i believe so. how its looking right now he is going to take a demotion anyway wherever he ends up. dont think he will get an OC job calling his own plays at a power 5 school, at least not next year. it seems more like richt pushed him out than him leaving on his own, same with the rest of the coaches, or else it would be a **** of a coincidence that all these coaches decided to leave on their own. its not like any of them are really sought after. we know kb didnt leave on his own.

Richt's job isn't to teach Coley. For whatever reason he didn't want him on his staff and wanted a fresh start. Maybe he didn't want to deal with the former OC and his relationship with the players and whatever junk could have flowed from that.
