Joaquin Gonzalez says....

Admittedly I'm on the Butch bandwagon, mainly because of the rather limited alternatives. Mario? Strong? Schiano? F()ck no. Chud I can buy - his NFL experience adds a lot more to his resume than anything the other coaches.

I do not understand the Miami-connection requirement. I do not live in the Miami area. What makes Miami so unique that any coach must have pre-existing experience in the area. Would a lack of experience in Miami hinder Pete Carroll, Chip Kelly, or Urban Meyer? F()ck no. You would think there was a secret handshake Miami's HC has to know.

I think the only good Coaching Scenario with these four involved is if they came together at their respective positions. Butch HC, Schiano DC, Chud OC, Cristobal OL. Other than that I like Butch and would maybe give Chud a chance. I'd rather go for a Gundy, Herman, Fuentes, even go for Richt or Rich Rod before hitting up Schiano or Chud. And I Would never ever EVER have Cristobal as a HC.

DMoney's right, I read that wrong and saw red. My therapist has asked me to work on this.

Still, whoever they're interviewing needs to get outside the bubble.

I think we're misinterpreting the tweet.

It sounds like the search firm is soliciting opinions from former players, and the former players are naming those four. Which would make sense, since they don't have experience with other possible candidates.

I doubt the headhunters gave Joaquin their own list. I doubt they even have a list. The conversation probably went something like this:

Joaquin: What names have you been hearing from the other players?
Headhunter: We hear a lot about Butch and Mario, some about Chud, and a little about Schiano.

Exactly.

Butch. Mario assistant head coach and 'coach in waiting'. Other assistants to be whomever Butch wants to get.

This area is unique and so is the school. It's unlike any other job. You have to have a relationship with the high school coaches down here to succeed at a high level. It's why they shouldn't entertain a Herman or Fuente. It would take those guys a few years to make inroads into the high schools -- this Program does not have a few years to wait around. I'd look at guys that have those connections -- Butch/Mario/Strong, etc. Then I would make my decision based on the staffs that they could put together. Golden had no ties to Miami, no connection to the high schools, and did not put together a strong staff. He lost out on too many kids and the staff did not do a good job of coaching-up the players they got.

I think you're probably at least partially correct...and I also believe that this is probably very precisely placed mis-information.

What the **** is a point of **** search firm then.

I'm sorry but you are wrong, McElwain, Jimbo, Meyer, Jimmy Johnson, Dennis Erickson, none had these coaches had so called "Florida Ties" Yet they all came to Florida recruited Miami talent and won. These kids want to win. The only "Florida Ties" you need is a Winning Record.

Yeah, that's what I got, and said right above you. This is going to be a 37 page freak out though.
