Actually, that’s exactly what Air Raid means. Lol. Air Raid is apart of a spread concept, but u along w/ others often confuse or equate Air Raid as “Spread.”
Run & Shoot / Air Raid literally means u’re airing out the ball. Spread can be ran in different formations that utilizes the concept of “spreading” out the defense, to create the best match ups, whether that’s running or passing the ball. UGA runs a Pro Spread, which is not Air Raid. We were attempting to run a Power Spread. Triple Option was considered a type of spread offense.
Air Raid is very specific to being a pass heavy offense w/ very little attention to the run. It’s why QBs under coaches like Mike Leach, June Jones, Jack Pardee, John Jenkins to name a few put up gaudy passing stats.
