Jaynard Bostwick

Miami after former UF defensive tackle

Last week, GatorBait.net broke the news that defensive tackle Jay-nard Bostwick received his release from the University of Florida, allowing him to seek schools to transfer to for this fall. Sources indicate the Miami Hurricanes, a team that was heavily in Bostwick's recruitment out of Port St. Lucie (Fla.) St. Lucie Centennial in 2013, is trying to lure the former four-star into their school.

Apparently the Hurricanes are the leader for Bostwick, who is also considering in-state programs Central Florida and South Florida as well as flirting with the idea of going to a junior college for a semester.

I'll take him. More DT's please!

I believe if he transferred to Miami at this point since he is a redshirt-sophmore he would two years to play two seasons but he would have to transfer by summer. But it would be a helluva of pick up by staff in terms of ability, now I am not sure about his off the field issues in Gainesville but I suspect being closer to family here in south Florida may squash a lot of that acting out.

Let's see if they let him even transfer to Miami.

There is no way UF could block the transfer, Miami is not on UF's schedule for the foreseeable future (well at least for the next 3 years). He is a south Florida native and when he signed with UF he clearly said UM was his #2 choice so they can't say that Miami influenced him. If UF denied his transfer they would lose on appeal an also it would probably not play out well for them with south Florida recruits going forward.

They can block him in they want to.

They can but won't .

Adding Bostwick would be a very good pick up for Dline but that would give him 2 years on the field at Miami, which would be the same as adding a 2016 Juco player to the 2016 class so he can take former UM commit JUCO DT Wally Aimes place.

The upside is that he can enroll this Fall and get a full year of practice under his belt before being a major contributor the next two years.

Willis and Bostwick would make quality replacements for Huertelou and Wyche. With Moten and Jenkins as juniors, we should have the best line in the Coastal.

It's my understanding Bostwick will have three years of eligibility remaining once he sits out a year.

never wanted to be a gator. i think UM would rejuvenate his career. Plus, his cousin has been getting positive reviews from Jaguars and
he was a kid most felt didnt belong here

You have a 5 years eligibility clock with the NCAA from the moment you graduate high school unless you go on a religious mission or join the military. Jaynard Bostwick was a member of the 2013 class: when he arrived at UF for the 2013 Fall he was redshirted, then for the 2014 season he played sparingly as a R-Fr. So now for 2015 he would be a R-Soph but he will have to sit out a 1 year as a transfer to any FBS school an since he previously red-shirted he will have to forfeit the sophomore year. Thus he will only have his Junior (2016) and Sr (2017) year to left.

I think thats a bad rule. If you are kicked out or suspnded/disciplined i agree but if you transfer once i think u should retain your eligibility.

Anybody else concerned with the fact that UF had no problem releasing him and is not blocking his transfer anywhere? They already lost Willis, Fowler graduated and Bostwick was needed. I'm just saying...

you should be the fact that he's looking to transfer instead of in the 2 deep says alot he's been passed up by a couple underclassmen

plus he never really played in his 2 years on campus

For those in this thread that don't know Gerald Willis is strictly a Defensive End and has always been a D-end he is 6'2" and 255lbs. Now Bostick can play DT (Defensive Tackle an interior position played by players in the 300lb range) or SDE (strong side D-end plays at the end of the dline usually over the Tight End or the left side of the defense).

Disagree with Willis being " strictly a defensive end". He'll be in the 270 pound range in no time , he'll slide inside to play three tech on pass downs.

An Golden will waste his talents the same way they did with Anthony Chickillo if they bulk him up that way.
