Wait did he say that sober? Or is he that big of a homer? Smdh
Aside from doing the Heisman pose after a punt return TD what did Patrick Peterson do better than Antrel Rolle or Jalen Ramsey in college?? They were all equal lock down corners however Patrick Peterson was the size of Sean Taylor at 220lbs but plays cb like Kelly Jennings.

Antrel Rolle and Jalen Ramsey were bullies and can hit like safeties... Peterson don’t have that dog in him. Honey Badger does which is why he was a better DB in college than Patrick Peterson as well..

How tf does this guy keep getting hired?! Idk how he's even getting interviews after that Illinois meet the coach clip. Dude says "uh" and "um" 35 times (not exaggerating) in a 2 minute video. And says the ONLY reason he even got into coaching was because he needed a job!

That's before his resume (and time under no D) even comes up!!

Like Allabouttheu said, he is living off that Artie Burns first round pick. Not many coaches have that to their name

And that illustrates just how stupid it is to give these position coaches so much credit for "development." How can Williams develop Burns but not develop anyone else. Did he only have magic with one player? LOL

Bottom line is that position coaches are as good as the talent that comes in. All these genius "developers" are living off of incredible talent acquisition.

Some boob put up a tweet about Sabag getting x amount of 5 stars drafted in the 1st round as some sort of support for him being a genius developer of DBs. LOL. He's a genius recruiter/bagger is what he is. He's also done an incredible job of keeping his players hungry and focused. But there's no magical development sauce that he has that other professional coaches with the same access to the same methods don't have.

Sabag signs 5 stars, and 5 stars are SUPPOSED TO BE 1st ROUNDERS. That's why they're 5 stars. By definition, they're predicted to become 1st rounders.

Exactly. Pretty sure 247 composite doesn't have more than 32 5 stars each year for a reason..

I agree. If you’re really talented, you can be a first rounder from any school.

I would only add this. I agree with you on blue-chip players who do not switch positions. They can be motivated, they can be improved, but they are already supposed to be kids who (with a few years of growth and practice) should be drafted by the NFL to play that position.

There are some cases where coaches do more to help "develop" a player, particularly in cases of position changes and/or raw talent that needs to learn a lot of technique. Many times the word "development" is used to describe a broad range of things, including the teaching of maturity, professionalism, work ethic, etc. But if we limit ourselves primarily to teaching positional techniques, I do think there are times when the coach does teach/develop more than in other instances.

I still agree, it is crazy to attribute "the coach" with all the players' success, based on "development", particularly when that coach may only work with a kid for a year or two. ****, most of Mullet's "QB Whisperer" resume is based on kids he either recruited/didn't-teach, or didn't-recruit/did-teach-for-less-than-4-years.

And if one of them doesn’t make it he gets no heat or criticism. Bama gets players drafted exactly where they were predicted to be at.
We hype up borderline 4 stars and expect them to go first round or we suck as a program. For every player we say “our staff did a poor job of developing and he should’ve gone higher” Saban has several of those every year.
25 kids per class and most of them are top 300 players. You would expect every year for him to have at least 10 dudes go in day one.
So if it doesn’t happen at bama then we shouldn’t expect it to happen here with the level we’ve recruited at since Golden.

The "development" schtick is the biggest racket in recruiting. It is the tool of the rich to stay rich. Programs like Ohio Taint, LSU, Baga, and Clemson pound the development drum, and dummies buy it.

It's a self-perpetuating racket. Sign great talent. Great talent does what great talent is supposed to do--gets drafted high. Coaches then take credit for creating that talent instead of just signing it. Dummies buy into and spread the idiotic witchcraft that position coaches and HCs at those schools have some sort of market cornered on development. Rinse. Repeat.

This man understands the racket.
