2026 Jasen “JRoc” Lopez 4* WR from Chaminade via True North commits to Noles [Football Thread]

That’s a lot of moves for one play! D*mn.
Between the legs from behind, almost around his back (which is harder than going around the back) and then the scoop lay up.

I hope Jai Lucas is seeing this because Lopez is a legit 2 sport athlete and it would not surprise me if he starts off wanting to play both.
Personally, I see more basketball upside for Lopez than for Russell, who really just looks like a great athlete playing basketball. Lopez is a basketball player. You can see how much time he has devoted to skill work.
Playing basketball and football in college makes zero sense. Choose one!

Basketball season starts in November. Football season ends in January. We are in the ACC. To think you can skip offseason basketball workouts and step right into ACC conference play and be an impact basketball player as a guard is comical.

On the flip side, the most important offseason months for football players are January-April. You need to be in the weight room, building your confidence with the playbook and with your teammates. Missing spring ball to hoop is counterproductive to the ultimate goal, NFL.

There are 60 basketball players from around the world that get drafted every year and only 30 receive guaranteed contracts. J-Rock is barely 6 feet tall. He can hoop no doubt but the odds of making it to the nfl are substantially higher.

By “problem” do you mean there are other more highly rated WRs ahead of him that we are prioritizing?

If we whiff (hopefully not) on the priority WRs and come back around, will he be receptive or tell us to kick rocks?
Bigger fish to fry, my friend. Sunshine will play a major role which direction we go. By then, it maaaaaaay be too late but not sure. Some people in local football community think Lopez is the better value but they are bias.

The Canes are being aggressive in prioritizing top local talent. WR Calvin Russell (Northwestern) visits this weekend and is a major priority regardless of what happens with other top targets. The same is true for next week's visitor, WR Jasen Lopez (Chaminade)- I don't believe he is an either/or with WR Vance Spafford (Orange County, CA) and the Canes want him badly.
