Jarren Williams

Martell was rumored to leave even before the Justin fields news. That possibly could have been the possibile tipping points but who knows and who cares really
I don't believe that to be true. He was all over social media trying to discourage Fields transferring to OSU saying he was the starter so don't bother coming here (paraphrasing).

I feel like he's trying to immerse himself into the program as the starter and he's not even on campus. I get the excitement and confidence., but you have to go earn it 1st on Greentree.

Well, it looks like Martell will be on campus by this weekend based on Brevin's instagram and some notes on TOS.

TOS has an article about both Jarren and Kosi's viewpoints on teh neww QB coach/OC and the transfer of Martell. Both claim to be excited and looking forward to new coaching and competition.

Interesting fact: Tate was Jarren's host at OSU when he took his OV there in October of 2017 - right before he came to Miami for the ND game. OSU was Jarren's #2 choice. Looked like they may be playing together at OSU back then. Now, roles are reversed....

Small world......

I agree, but let's not forget about N'kosi. I'm not writing him off like other people. Kid is talented. Obviously, needs maturity. Too many people look at his stats and say, "Oh, 50% passer. Let's move on." I say.no way. You can't write off a young QB with talent. Kid is accurate given time. Like most QBs he got inaccurate when the pocket was collapsing and gets a little jumpy. I saw a lot of good things from him, bit he must mature and take it to the next level. It should be interesting who emerges.

Martell won't be on campus until he graduates from OSU this Spring semester. It will be interesting to see whose on top after the Spring, but I bet the OC will pull a Richt move and say both kids are close and no one has separated. This way it keeps everyone engaged so they won't transfer. There'll be a 3-4 way competition in Fall camp and the starter won't be named until after Fall enrollment. Again, to prevent any transfers before the 2019 season starts. We will lose 2-3 QBs at the end of the 2019 season mark my word. Our QB situation has issues because all the guys are separated by 1 year of eligibility or less. That means a mass exodus after the 2019 season that I alluded to earlier.

It will be interesting to se what happens if Martell is not the starter. I'm sure Brevin told him he'd be the the best QB on campus, but I personally don't believe he us. I think Perry has the most arm talent and Jarren is the most accurate, but we haven't seen much from Jarren. As I said, it's easy to discount Perry, but you have to ask yourself, "What would any of the QBs have done in our offense last year." Guys were not getting open and the offensive line was terrible which makes the QB look bad.

The good news is we get to see apples against apples. Each guy will get to run with the 1's in camp. Our team will benefit because someone will elavate their game to become the starter. Let's see how things play out.
Tate is moving down here already and he's BY FAR the most talented QB we've had in since the late 80s early 90s. LOL at Perry even close.

I completely agree, I think he and Tate are different types. Depends on what Enos primarily wants to run, and/or he could have packages for both

And I am sure he could sell that with his experience managing Tua and Hurts' playing time on offense at Alabama. That can also stress defenses in having to prepare for two qbs instead of one and falls in line with what Manny would like to see. Even if Martell ends up starting I still see Jarren having an important role on offense.

If you have never seen Fields play then you are the one sounding like an ***. I guarantee you Fields is hands down better than Fromm. It wasn't about potential, it was about being given the opportunity. Fromm was hand picked by Kirby and led UGA to the Natty as a freshmen; you don't bench a guy after that kind of season when he has showed that he can still produce on the field. Fields was in a no win situation being only 1 class behind Fromm. Martell knew what was coming at him in Columbus so he hit the portal. Smart move, but it will be a shootout at Miami with each guy being coached up by Enos. I just want the best guy playing when all is said and done.

Bama and Clemson says you can bench a guy after taking you to the natty or playoffs, see Hurts/Tua and Bryant/Lawrence. The mentality should always play the best player who gives you the best chance to win. Hopefully we take on the mentality under Manny.

In the Bama and Clemson scenario, the bench guys also played pivotal roles in key points in the season. Bryant bailed out Lawrence against TAMU and you saw what happened with Bama vs. Georgia when Hurts was put in for Tua.

Bench guys can still play active roles in the offense and even have packages installed for them if bringing different skill sets. I hope Jarren doesn't lose sight of that if he does not get the starting role. It's a long season and you never know when you may need to be called in due to unforeseen circumstances. And if you have guys of equal talent w/ different skill sets, it is not out of the question you can have an offense that installs different packages depending on the qb and stress defenses having to prepare for both instead of one.

Well that's your opinion not mine based on what? HS? Two years removed from high school so I don't care about high school. The battle will be on Greentree.

Watch his OSU film. He jumps off the screen with talent far superior to any QB here for over 2 decades. That's D1 college competition, same as Perry and both were redshirt freshmen.

What Rutgers highlight? That's it. Not much in mop up of other games. I've grown tired of all the speculation and everyone so happy thinking we've found our Messiah. Kid hasn't played much in college. I remember everyone all jiggy about N'kosi and now they've moved on after one year except for me. Silly frankly. A young QB will get better. A lot better. I'll just wait for the competition. Like I said, the proof will be on Greentree.

So a year after a kid was hand picked by a coach and took his team to a National Championship you commit to that school? Sounds like he doesn’t really do research and just makes bad decisions. He maybe great or a bust, Tate could be the same but give me the guy who is here. Accourding to some he didn’t run cause of Fields coming he left cause fields was told the job was his with no competition. That’s a bias and i wouldn’t stick around knowing I really don’t have a chance to compete for the job. If Williams is on the same level as Fields and Tate decided to come here wouldn’t that also imply he is running to competition?

So many people are sleeping on Jarren. At the Nike Open, Jarren was only performed by Fields (according to the players).

He has a bright future and I hope he stays.
I agree, now with a coach who will pick the most talented he should be in good hands. Just needs to put his head in the playbook and show that he's the guy. Hopefully he doesn't bolt

I'm done with Perry. I don't think he has any chance of being the QB1 next year. Kid is a ticking timebomb that CMD will not be choosing to be the face of the program for the next 2+ years.

Dude Perry isn't anywhere near Tate's level. Yes he played against Rutgers and he also ran all over OSUs defense in their spring game. He also played Baker Mayfield and the Army option QB on their scout team and Urban said he was so good, that he was the reason they won. This kid is the truth.

Yep, may the best QB win. Tate has to think he has the upper hand vs some QB's that could not beat out Rozier.
