Redemption song?

Redemption song?
Born again?
we don't need everything we need a couple sold DT's we don't want the room to crowded. We have a lot of talented young guys in the room, they need snaps to develop!
Already close to 10 DTs on the roster. Let them play!
Hunte - 6th year
Gore - 6th year
Burroughs - 5th year
Moten - 3rd year
Horton - 2nd year
Achempong - 2nd year
Scott - 1st year (should play immediately)
Jones - 1st year
Russell - 1st year
Isn't Acheampong a DE? Also, we're probably taking ~8 players total in portal so no way we're taking more than two DT. Something like:
QB - 1-2
WR - 1?
OL - 1 (depending on what happens with Lee/Rivers
DT - 1-2
CB - 1?
S - 2
No doubt. We can't ignore the portal but the roster is more or less full even with this week's confirmed and rumored departures. By the end of this month we will have brought in 60+ HS recruits since Mario arrived. He's assembled talent and now must allow them to showcase why they're here. Just because a position room is young doesn't mean we have to bring in a grad transfer. The numbers are strong at each position because needs have been addressed through 3 recruiting cycles.
Offense (39 players)
QB (3) - Brown, Williams, Anderson
RB (6) - Allen, Citizen, Fletcher, Johnson, Humphrey, Riley
WR (9) - George, Young,Kirk, Horton, Joseph, Washington, Carr, Trader, Robinson
TE (5) - Arroyo,Skinner, Williams, Carver, Lofton
OT (9) - Rivers, Mauigoa, Okunlola, Bell, Tinilau, Plazz, Broussard
IOL (7) - Lee, Cooper, McCoy,Rodriguez,Sagapolu, Tripp, Francavilla, Minaya, Kinsler
Defense (42 players)
DE (8) - Mesidor, Kelly,Moss, Bain, Wayne, Lightfoot, Rudolph, McConathy
DT (9) - Hunte,Gore, Burroughs, Moten, Horton, Achempong, Scott, Jones, Russell
LB (11) - Cloyd, Mauigoa,Smith, Bissainthe, Aguirre, Bryant, Pulliam, Washington, Pickett, Pruitt, Shavers
CB (8) - Porter, Brown, Richard, Freeney, Brown, Stafford, Mack, Frederique
S (6) - Harris, Williams, Spencer, Patterson, Day, Thomas
Specialists (3 players)
SP (3) - Borregales, Joyce, Napper (is he really on scholarship?)
39 + 42 + 3 = 84 players already on the 2024 roster
Where exactly are all of these portal transfers going to help us, and which of the players posted above is getting their scholarship revoked as a result?
-Gore was considered a major portal addition I'm just saying. If Hunte returns, I'd still add 1 more top guy. If he doesn't return, we need two.
Can we really rely on Burroughs? Because after him and JHH, I don't see starters. Gore is utility only. Moten has not proven he's able to get push, reminds me of Jonathan Ford from a performance perspective, good run stuffer, liability in passing situations. Horton, Collins and the rest need another year+ to start at a ACCCG level team.
Na, as long as it was a straight up fight and no sucker punch type **** , it can be worked out easyOr Lee is gone.
I totally agree, im all for stacking talent in rooms but at some point, it's too many. If Mario goes and adds 3-4 DT thats just too many. Have to give these young kids a chance to play they have the talentAlready close to 10 DTs on the roster. Let them play!

-Moten isn't Aaron Donald but is entering year 3 and is a big boy.
-Horton supposedly flashed after arriving late and is a large man. Why wait?
-Acheampong I have at DT since he's already 6'7 270. Still raw obviously. Again though, why wait?
-Scott as a 5 star should play right away. Throw his *** out there against Florida.
-Hunte is solid and would play a ton of snaps
-Burroughs has the potential to be very good.
-Russell may benefit from redshirting.
-Jones may benefit from redshirting.
That's 9 DTs already in the mix with all but 1 brought in by Mario. Are we trying to build a program through recruiting and development, or are we desprately trying to patch holes on the depth chart wherever there isn't a 5th year senior in place for some odd reason? Going heavy portal this offseason would mean that Mario has been lying or he changed his mind about building this thing the right way.

Settle down Dabo, using the portal is not a "wrong" way to build a team.-Gore was considered a major portal addition I'm just saying.

Should the goal be to win everything right away though? Miami should not have its sights set on making the playoffs next year. The goal is to win. The talent is not there to have high confidence in it. It may get there, but that's not good enough. Gore is what he is, will never be more than utility. Moten and Horton had more than enough looks. Did you feel like they can replace LT, much less be our next Sapp? I didn't. I don't think Collins even saw a snap. The rest are 18 year olds.
I'm using Mario's words here. I overheard him on Hurricane Hotline very recently claming how his desire is to build the program through recruiting and development. He should want to improve the team with transfers but we should not be trying to assemble a national championship team in 2024. The eyes of the program should be looking ahead to 2025 and beyond. It shouldn't be all that different than NFL free agency. Teams that are building calculate and wait until the time is right to spend big on FAs.Settle down Dabo, using the portal is not a "wrong" way to build a team.
You get better where you can.
I bet they ask Thomas to greyshirt while he recovers from the injury. Seems like they really liked him but no sense enrolling now if he is still rehabbing.I don’t see the (7) crossed out guys here. Also don’t think we sign both Safeties Day and Thomas (1). Napper, don’t think he is on scholarship (1). Think we also we have a couple surprise deflections. Obvious position being Lber.
But that is 9 right there plus the 1 we had
Rok I think you could argue that you actually need a crop of recruits to get through your program to see what kind of players respond well to our brand of development. We won't really know if the formula of system+recruit type = success is right until the 2021 class has received their full helping of development. We should really be looking to the 2025 class as the start of the right way of building things as there should be no issue identifying development receptability capacity (or DRC for short), and expecting big results when they are upper classmans. Think 2028 season.I'm using Mario's words here. I overheard him on Hurricane Hotline very recently claming how his desire is to build the program through recruiting and development. Also, from a culture standpoint it makes sense to build the team through recruiting. Culture has been a major bugaboo at Miami and patching holes everywhere is detrimental in that aspect imo. There's no guarantee that the recruits brought here by Mario will want to stay at Miami for 4 years, but we have a better chance at owning a good retention rate by allowing recruits to grow up on the field in certain spots.
Horton is gonna be higher in that rotation than Gore.Deen is gone. Assuming JHH comes back the top 6 at DT is likely:
JHH
Portal transfer
Gore
Moten
Burroughs?
Justin Scott
Then would have Horton, Campbell and Artavius Jones in the mix as well.
Collins was hurt. Horton barely got playing time, to put any label now on him is way too early we haven't seen what he can be. Gore is what he is ai agree. Collins was hurt that's why he wasn't playingThe goal is to win. The talent is not there to have high confidence in it. It may get there, but that's not good enough. I mean we know Mario's glad to play the long game. His contract has him here through 2030 so I agree that this is all an experiment, and using traditional methods to assemble your roster is probably best when you're trying to build. It takes time to build.Rok I think you could argue that you actually need a crop of recruits to get through your program to see what kind of players respond well to our brand of development.
