James Williams

He had some good moments for us at Safety when he was healthy. We only play two LB’s. He did what he needed to do for Miami and now he is in the league doing his thing. Not sure why everyone is questioning his path so far.
Because "his" path got him the seventh round???... I mean I'm glad he got drafted...

And there is nothing that says he gets drafted higher if he switched to LB.
People have a hard time adjusting expectations after a player gets the hype of a 5star. Only way id see his path changing would be if he was an edge rusher from his senior year in highschool to now

Some guys just adjust differently. Many a time I wanted to throw something at the TV watching this guy make bone headed plays. He has all of the physical ability to play either position. But he still made dumb plays that cost the team. I am not sure who to blame on that one. Our coaching staff made bone headed calls.

Not giving JW a pass here by any means. Point is, he would have made dumb plays at line backer. He didn't respect either staff enough to take the recommendation to move positions. If I am looking at a coaching staff and determining which one to give respect to, I am choosing the NFL guys. Not the one that can't take a knee or one that rides up on a yacht who promotes a gold chain when we recover a fumble.

Good for him. JW can hopefully put some cash in his pocket for a few years.

I think a good comparison with James is with Jamien Sherwood with the Jets. He came out of Auburn as a safety and the Jets drafted him and moved him to LB. Nothing special but a solid player for the Jets. I think that is what James will be nothing special but a solid player. Hope I'm wrong. Love seeing Canes ball out in the league

You know, plenty of folks here said thats where he belonged, and plenty said he did not belong there. Swore up and down he was a safety. And no, they did not say “i know he belongs at LB but he wont do it” that would be different. I was one of the ignorant ones that said LB. Sometimes the ignant have a good viewpoint and sometimes the “experts” need to go sit they *** down somewhere.

Exactly, look at the sense of urgency he’s playing with in those clips - I never saw that here out of him.. he played lazy and entitled. Wish him all the best.

James is hopefully the last remnants of the diva attitude from previous staff.

Had U potential, ability, talent BUT Miami Ego and habits.

Bottom line he was too talented to keep off the field but our DB group will be better this year without. It’s true!

He will always be a Cane… Enjoyed his passion and energy; loved some of his hits. Bless him and his family. We are on the next chapter though.

I've liked Williams as he hits like a Hurricane. I think teams might regret not getting him earlier in the draft. As a hardnosed football player, he can be an intimidator.

Kind of a shame fans still hold grudges from earlier in his career against him. Williams was impressive to me his senior year he seemed to really turn the corner mentally and physically. He was a leader. He had a couple of moments where I thought his frustration of wanting the team to be better that he let it get the best of him, but people had their minds made up about him

I don’t wanna hear dat ****! Y’all ****ted on James just like y’all did LT56! Don’t try to praise him now
Once it was revealed he “played” through a torn labrum many chose to ignore that being the main reason his tackling was suspect

For those of us who’ve had that injury you can fully grasp 1) how much that sh*t hurts on a daily basis. 2) that he was a warrior for just suiting up with that injury and 3) how bad our safety depth was that him with that injury was still a better option than others who were completely healthy

That’s what I saw & what I remember. Ball out? Nah. Solid moments? Yes
Realest of real talk.

Nice plays in the pre-season. He's falling flat on his face against starters on that first play and he's not making the play on the edge either on the second against a starting player. No disrespect...nice plays in a preseason game, but he made the play he was supposed to make in not so much of a textbook manner against 3rd stringers.

Surely being pedantic, and I am pulling for him, but MFs gonna think this guy is great for just these two plays and just needs a chance for the next half decade. Need to relax.

It wasn't the "tackling" so much that was his issue, it was the angles and space. He got better over the years to his credit.
