James Williams SIAP

Interesting to see how the year ends and what him and some of the other guys do. Momentum. Culture. Guys actually loving “the u”. This might be the year guys finally make a good decision to come back (for multiple reasons” and don’t just run off to the NFL to early. NIL helps as well

Yeah, these guys are not so high in the process where they will make considerably more in the NFL. They'll be paid just fine if they return.
James at least has the size that’ll intrigue scouts but he’s not a safety at the next level, no chance. Kam isn’t a big guy, nothing special as an athlete at rhe next level and film shows him making awful mistakes , mistakes a JV player knows is unacceptable. Too bad it’s Miami and these cats never learn when it comes to leaving early.

They need to come back . Film doesn’t lie and it shows plenty of bad by them this year in coverage. Kam being the worst.
I really hope so but not holding my breath on either one returning. kam still has an AA honor and Williams has the greatest physical tool set in the country. they'll have options

One on one tackle he made on Shipley, who is a very good back, probably saved the game and season.

And it wasn’t a shoestring accidental tackle, nor did he get run over and Shipley tripped over him. It was a tacking drill both kids have done probably 1000 times in their lives. One ball-carrier, one defender, two way option, man on man. And James made the play easily.
Low key my #3 play of the game.

#2 was any of the Ruben Bain plays

#1 Emory 3rd and 13th dot to Colby Young vs drop 8

That was the best fundamental tackle I have seen from him in a while, it was him or nobody and he kept his eyes in the right place and got him on the ground.

Fully expect him and Kam to bail which is dumb, but they do get up for the big games for sure.

My big knock on James for two years, especially when people were saying he should be a linebacker, is that he didn't like contact. Boy has he turned that around...has become a true enforcer. Another year of good development and he could be a Kam Chancellor type (though obviously that is the extreme upside case).

He is the heartbeat of that defense when it comes to keeping the energy up. Been awesome to see him start to harness it this year.

Both guys have a lot of Day 3 or UDFA film, for sure. They definitely should come back and get more consistent tape. James Williams, especially. NFL will take a minute to find a spot for him. He might as well stay and actually play. Kam has a lot to clean up on the field and he's just an ok athlete. I can see teams liking him, but not D1 or even as a D2 guy (maybe super late D2 because you never know who comes off the board once the mid-third starts). Can also see some of these guys on the team maybe rally around next year being the year and sticking around. We'll see. Not sure if Mario is grating on some of the old regime players yet.

Highly doubt either is coming back tbh.

I know Kam has had a couple of bad games this season. But he's had a lot of good ones last year and even a couple this season, too. And he's coming off a very good game with 5 more to go plus a bowl game. So I don't think we should be counting on him coming back at all. Still think he's a second or at worst a third rounder this draft. At least we got 2 really solid years out of him along with a few impact plays as a true freshman.

JW is only now having the impact we had hoped/expected. Sucks for Miami because it's like a Rousseau situation where we're only going to enjoy him playing at a really high level for a half season before he's off to the NFL. He needs to keep tackling for sure. But if he keeps playing like he did v Clemson, or better, with his measurables he'll come off the board early.

JW's tackling has been improved significantly this year. And his presence is felt more than we realize. Sounds like a leader in the locker room as well

IMO he should still come back next year. Still takes really bad angles a ton

I remember josh pates reaction to JW and Kam after the TAMu game. He was basically like holy sh they were all over the field lol

I’m obviously in the minority but neither guy wows me. JW has a splash play here and there. Wouldn’t be thrilled if Dolphins got either of them. Especially before round 4 or 5 especially if they leave after this year.

It's definitely beneficial for both of them to come back. James needs another year to put enough film together IN HIS CURRENT ROLE & Kam honestly just needs far more consistency. Bigger problem though is with Jayden gone we are REALLY gonna need markieth I'd imagine to step up and fill that. Because as we saw in the game where Jayden really struggled we have plenty of breakdowns in pass protection in those spots.
