A lot of what defense is is just buy in.You know I was convinced that DT is one of the most important positions on defense. But reading what you have posted has me leaning to your thinking. You’re making solid points
If all 11 guys know what to do and communicate really well and tackle, you give yourself a good shot. Once you're at that level then strong faster bigger becomes a thing.
Football is still won on three things;
Blocking
Tackling
Turnovers
You do those three things better then the other team every game, it's an almost guarantee. It minimizes the impact of a DT is the tema.just tackles well. He doesn't have to rip open the OL or double. Just control a gap, or blocker and make some tackles and don't miss them when they come and they're pretty good DTs.
