Jameis Winston will be a BUST

All of this after one drive????

he's thrown plenty of pics in practices two which is what scouts acknowledged as an issue with him. takes to many chances. doesn't see the field as well as some believe

Peyton did the same, not passing judgement until the season does start

You are right... Too be fair, the NFL needs more players to take chances down-field... Everyone throws the check down with the exception of. A few qbs... That being said, it's still early Bradshaw, The Mannings, Aikman and Luck all struggled as rookies... Look how they turned out... The guy wasn't that bad in his first preseason game... He's a rookie... It's amazing how people harp on his pics as if none of the greats threw pics... Marino(threw more pics his final year at Pitt than Winston), Elway and Favre all threw a ton of pics... Peyton threw 26 as a rookie... Luck threw 18... None of them were considered busts...

Exactly

true but manning didn't throw so many pics in college.many of you aren't aware that winston has had to change his mechanics quite a bit since leaving college which will pose another challenge as he develops as rookie.

You got a good point, imo i think winston felt he had to do everything because there were games you saw him trying so hard to win games he would do too much, honestly he got really lucky that teams shot themselves in the foot, he cant do that in the pros

I think thats the problem with Mariota. I think Mariota will be captain check down. One thing I liked about the Bucs 1st preseason game is they let Winston throw down field..

Exact reason why he threw so many pics. It wasn't because he doesn't understand the game

Changing his throwing mechanics isnt like a huge problem. Rodgers had to change his throwing mechanic, thats one of the reason why he dropped. People said Rivers would be a bust because of his throwing mechanic. The way he throws isnt that of a concern like say a Tebow

it's not that they simply tweaked his mechanics like rodgers or rivers. those guys still had quick releases. with winston it was the long wind up. tebow and byron leftwich would be better examples of similar mechanical issues. moreso leftwwich. it's that long windup slow release that was the issue. it will all depend on how much work he's putting in bc he definitely came into the league mroe advanced than mariota. mariota has been getting praise for the amount of work he's put into his craft

playing exactly how I saw it...and was an overrated QB @ FSU.

-long delivery
-played in a safe offense @ FSU with tons of checkdowns
-rarely went deep
-when plays break down he makes tons of mistakes
-surround by tons of talent @ FSU that bailed him out.

If not for our players dropping picks he would have had 2 more.

#2 and #3 are not accurate. Maybe you didn't watch a lot of him in college but he pushed the ball down the field...a lot. Almost to much.

Everything else is fair but I don't think he was "overrated." Great college player. We will see if it translates in the NFL
