Jalen Julius

Just make the **** offer, when does the dead period end?

They can still talk to the players over the dead period, just can't visit them or have the players on campus. They can offer him over the phone or text or whatever and I think it ends the 14 or 15 of January.

Does he or can he play CB? Is he a good fit over there?

He can and has. As a young player at Evans he played DB.

He could play DB with ease, especially with a redshirt year, the problem is that he is absolutely electric with the ball in his hands.

From rivals;

Orlando (FL) West Orange High School WR/DB Jalen Julius, a former Gator commitment, lists 26 scholarship offers.

And while the Hurricanes are hot on his trail, Julius' coach, Bob Head, says it's a "soft offer" from Miami right now.

"I think if it was committable, he would commit to Miami," Head said. "And they need to offer, I know that. He has about 20 schools calling all the time about him. Last year he missed a lot of the year with a concussion, so I guess they want to see how he develops. He's literally dominating this county. I think they'll offer soon."

For his part, Julius says "I've talked to Miami coaches - they say they love how I play. I'm going to be visiting Miami, but I'm not sure when yet."

He hasn't taken any official visits yet and says other than UM and Nebraska he's unsure where he'll visit.

Julius says he's serious about Miami for a couple of reasons.

One is his teammate, Cane commitment Dexter Williams. The two hope to play college ball together.

"He says Miami will be great, that we can both go there and do well," Julius said. "I tell him `You're right,' so that's why I'm looking at Miami."

Julius also says having family in the Miami area helps.

"All my family is down there," Julius said. "I love Miami because I'm from Miami, and there's a lot of tradition there."

He says what he wants in a college program is "a family place, a place where I can win and get a good degree."

Julius says he hopes to have a final decision in place by the end of this month.

"I just want to get it over with," he said.

The chance he picks the Canes?

"I'd say 50 percent," Julius said.

Julius could play wideout or defensive back at the next level, but Head says he prefers wideout.

"He decommitted from Florida because he wanted to play wide receiver," Head said. "But he should be a DB at the next level."

Julius says UF is not under consideration.

This season he has four receiving TDs, four rushing scores and two touchdowns on returns (one punt, one kickoff).

"He's one of the best athletes we've had," Head said. "He can run, he's low 4.4, a 4.3 40. You talk about dynamic - he's 5-11, 180 but tough and real explosive, man. He's fast."

If he was an EE, I think he would have gotten his offer already. Our staff seems to like to get EE for obvious reasons. Hopefully he will get an offer after all the EE enroll for 2 reasons.

1. To see if Williams enrolls at UM.
2. To see if Phillips and Jones chooses UM.

I think Miami should and would take him at CB. Elder was also electric with the ball in his hands but he is a natural CB and is doing well there. We need CBs and are pretty loaded with WRs. The staff is also looking to take a bunch of WRs next class.

If we offer him and he comes he could seriously be a playmaker as a freshman. This is the kind of versatile player we need i.e Darren Sproles like if he plays on offense. Speed kills and we need more of it on offense. This is the kind of guy you throw the screens to and see what happens or the deep balls, just let him come in and make plays.

UF wanted him as a DB, Louisville wanted him as a DB, but he has only really played RB. His film shows him almost exclusively at RB and as a returner. As a WR, it shows him catching passes in the flats, that's about it. He is truly a project DB if that's what you guys want him at...

Apples to Oranges.

He needs the ball and West Orange got him the ball in various ways. He was fighting for balls at RB with Dexter and losing time/balls at WR because of Eddie McDoom (remember that name...) It's not because he can't, it's because the offense West Orange ran is a spread that is very selective in throwing the ball downfield instead relying on speed to get outside.

I think he gets the offer, the staff is aware... i think they are gettin confirmation on other prospects first...but he will het that offer

I dont even want him at DB, no doubt he would be a good project there, maybe like Sam Shields but i just want to get this kid the ball on offense

They gotta offer my boy jalen

These idiots gotta offer him already. The kid has got skills, and it secures our top ATH in 15. Ridiculous that they haven't offered.

We already know how this story will end. The most stubborn staff in America will refuse to offer Julius, Williams will flip, and the coaches will have no one but themselves to blame.

The remaining defenders of Golden will claim it wouldn't be a big loss as long as we hang onto Scarlett and Walton. But then they'll be at a loss for words when we lose Scarlett, too.

And it will only become more infuriating when they add a couple Joe Brown/Tyler Grimsley specials after NSD because they'll strike out on all of their late targets. Throwing scholies away when they could actually bring in a talented athlete who, at the very least, could help in the return game.

This is such a **** shame. It's not like the kid is a scrub, bro. The highlights he has are legit, but Golden DGAF... I bet if he was from NJ he would have had an offer :stephenahand:

Wow I couldnt agree more its unacceptable that this is happening. That they have guys higher on there list **** is a pipedream for miami right now, only teams that perform at a high level can have that mentality. Golden is like a picky fat and ugly chick.

Exactly. If they actually ended up keeping Chatman and adding Cager and/or Phillips at WR, it wouldn't be as big a deal. But chances are, after the season we had and Golden being retained, we're not going to be adding any uncommitted blue-chip targets at WR in the next couple months.

They'll strike out on Cager/Phillips and fail to bring in a kid like Julius who could certainly help in the return game, an area of major weakness on this team. And they'll throw a few scholies away on Brown/Grimsley types after NSD to completely throw the "there wasn't enough room in the class" argument out the window.

I seriously am a huge fan of Jalen, IMO if someone like Terrell Gosier (or however you spell it) has an offer then idk why this kid doesn't he is legit.

This is why we are going Adidas. No a single **** is given anymore. I'm done if we lose Nike on top of it all.

The kid is an RB... Look at his film... He doesnt want to play DB and has barely played WR, if at all... Catching passes in the flat don't count.
