Jahvontae Dean

And he’s the Lawrence Cager of cbs as far as physicality based on his height. But the pats will turn him intan all pro in two years.

pats run too much man for him, but he has straight line speed and can tackle so maybe the replacement for matthew slater down the road if belichick wants him. i don't think he'll be much more than a special teamer with stints as a zone corner. can't teach instinct and he just doesn't have it in man coverage.

Not coming out of college. You just saying that based on how his pro career turned out. Not saying dean is good at all but just being realistic about the situation
Dean has literally done nothing. He wasn't even touted as a HS or juco prospect. What makes him a better prospect than Sam Shields was? Please Brock, do tell.

How'd pro day go at Virginia, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Duke, and Wisconsin? Unreal what went on this past season.

Adios, Richt.

People remember what they want. Shields was not highly thought of coming out of UM outside of being an expert gunner on ST because of his speed. There is nothing that tells me the same can’t happen for Dean if someone wants to develop him like GB did Shields. Rumph just didn’t have him long enough. Good luck to the kid!

And you're just saying that based off Dean's measurements and his 40 time. It takes more than that to make it in the NFL. But we'll talk about this later if Dean makes a 53 man roster.

I hope he becomes another Gus Edwards story. He’s always had the talent but for some reason he never truly materialized at UM.
Pricht never game him a chance. You can't give a RB 2 carries a game and expect him to do anything. If he was that good a practice player coach could of carved up a 10 carry game in one of the blowouts.

Up until that point, shields hadn’t had much film at cornerback either other than that final year. He was molded into the league to be a good cornerback not at UM.... so he was just as raw if not more than dean(who is raw in his own **** right). And last time I checked Shields went undrafted yet some of you talking like he was some mythical prospect in his draft process. With that being said he’s obviously went on to have a solid career and made a pro bowl or 2 after being undrafted which is good

Also Dean was the #1 JUCO corner in the country. He should’ve been redshirted his first year here so he could’ve had 2 full off seasons but it is what it is. Also tied for the team lead with 3 ints this season, and Shields never had one here. I’m glad you’re one of the rational ones here that can understand better prospect coming out of college doesn’t mean he’s necessarily going to have as good of a career as shields has had thus far

I thought his teammate Sheffield was the #1 Juco CB that year. I seem to remember Saban sending Dean on his way as Sheffield pulled up the driveway.

Pretty sure they played on the same Juco team too.

Edit...yup.

Lots of prospect pedigree for Dean. Look at the measurables and the 40 time...kid was the #1 juco corner coming into Miami. He did ok here, just never blew up like his measurables suggest he might. He's going to likely be drafted on those alone...if not he will certainly get a FA camp invite.
