He did have offers from Ohio St. and VA Tech. The Ohio St. offer is the impressive one since the school is well known for churning out OL into the pros. But, they offer duds, too. Perhaps Jones is pacing himself....

Everyone here thought Sandland was the next Shockey, when he wasn't even the next Richard Gordon.

Fans seem to think that first year players, whether High School recruits or JC transfers, should immediately be at superstar level.

Sure, it happens. 1% of the time.

The best of the best in high school make the jump to play college football.
The best of the best in college go to the NFL.

Today, I just saw many of the top recruits from a few years ago get cut in the first round of the preseason NFL cut massacre.

There's going to be a thousand former high school superstars filling out job apps at sporting goods stores across the country.

Not every recruit pans out.
The reality is that only a minority percentage ever make it in college football, and an even smaller percentage end up getting legitimately paid.

The "he's a JUCO guy and they need time" argument would make sense if he wasn't behind true freshman who just got out of HS a few weeks ago.
