Jackson Cantwell practice footage

I bet you by game 5 you will change your words. Chase is going to have a monster season, he has every single tool Heatherman loves in a LB. By seasons end everyone here will realize, Miami has the best LB two deep in the ACC.
I think Chase will have a huge season because he should have experience on his side and that makes a huge difference

Probably a huge win was us not getting the Seaton kid. It’s forcing Cantwell into a position that’s he’s going to grow way faster and it saved us a ton of money that we could allocate elsewhere.

Have only heard positive things with Seaton, Having Vet 3 year players always helps overall.. We will have to go thru growing pains either way.. Mensah is gonna erase some mistakes but hopefully not too many

They played well but we know we can do a whole bunch better. They played good though its not a knock on them but I always expect Miami to get better players every year when we up. Nothing wrong with wanting to get better every year imo. Chase was rag dolling dudes in the playoffs I said when we were on a run.
I totally get wanting to level up, but instead of looking for replacements, we should look at the growth potential of the guys we already have. With another full offseason in the system and the S&C program—plus a healthy, successful season under their belts—they’re going to be even better next year. They’re great athletes; once they’re past the injury hurdles, their ceiling is huge.

I dont get it either, Chase played alot, even in playoffs, even in championship game.. No one said anything when they were in game together during championship game and holding it down. If I bought anything up its usually more about guys playing 8 years in cfb. I think that is tough on younger guys but if they werent weak point in defense last year, they wont be this year either..
Spot on. While Toure has his limitations in the passing game, that’s typical for a 'thumper' linebacker. The real story was his improvement in coverage as the season progressed; both he and Smith clearly found their rhythm. People often overlook the mental toll of recurring injuries—the further they get from that last setback, the more they can trust their instincts instead of overthinking their movements.

The DL last year helped a ton setting edges though. It’s a legit concern if the LBs are that capable without the assist.

I don’t think the unit is trash. But “wait and see”.

Two members of the dline return and both are thought to be taking next step, Justin Scott has been said to look like he got next and we know what Moten was doing to end season..

Obviously it will be hard to replace what Bain did but I just have a hard time thinking 3 Five stars are gonna get blown off the ball every play and be that much of concern.. I dont see it.. This is not wait and see to me, on the Oline I agree but Blount played inside last season for god sakes and held his own so now he gonna be a concern setting edge?

Damon Wilson is a player in his money year and coming off a top 15 run defense in Mizzou, why is he gonna go from top 15 at Mizzou to being a concern at Miami?! What are we doing? Teams have had to replace star players before and they come back just fine, and thats not with having the luxury of replacing with proven production and 5 star talent.

Again, Oline ok maybe a concern, we trotting out the weakest link from last year oline acording to pff as only returning player, no portal center so limited experience injury prone guy there, True freshman phenom who is going to be "wait and see" but we expect him to grow into role and pancake who split reps and hope he elevates his play also and another new starter who is getting good reviews but first time starter.

No one?

IMO you’re tripping if you think Toure+Smith as your starting LBs is a good thing.

I’m not even sold on RT at the moment. The thought of a speed rush on the edge vs McCoy worries me

People lack the sight. This is what I explained last season. With our schedule as weak as it is and us having real quality throughout our roster, this is the year for real in house growth. Don't care about temporary fixes out of the portal. I care about getting our guys that much closer to peak potential. Sitting around as back ups doesn't do that for them. Then we'll never know what we really got.

To make sure I understand this, are you saying the reason for their limitations in coverage was they were reliving mentally past trauma from previous injuries...

Why I've been saying Wiley, Pruitt, and Bobby had he stayed need to play. Gotta rotate a lot more young guys in earlier and not just in garbage time next yr. Not saying you have to have them in on critical downs and 4th quarter if game isn't firmly in hand, but a 3 play series in the 1st half? Why not. LB is the most obvious position that we have to force some growing pains out of youth I think. Same with TE - and that SHOULD HAVE been the case all ******* last yr!!! But no we had to play Bauman...

OLine well have some growing pains but that's just due to inexperience out of actual starters.

Chase and Toure were both critical in the A&M game. Toure had that legendary hit but Chase has a nice play forcing the QB to throw over him and it was a wrap. Toure seems like he likes being almost a 3rd DE doesn’t like to go backwards. Mauigoa was like that. Wind them up and just let them rush
