(Let me get us prepared for the banana JIC)

But but D$ said he was getting pushed around in camps, technique needs work, and Pepe is far more impressive and polished due to all the IMG preparation.

If Cantwell picks Miami, the national media and butthurt rivals writers will assuredly point to NIL as the sole rationale for the decision. The reality is that this is a no-brainer decision. I believe @DMoney and a few others have mentioned that Cantwell has struggled in pass protection on the camp circuit. The natural talent is there and abundant, but he needs development. There isn't a better coaching staff for O-Lineman than Miami.
I don’t usually care about what media says, since it stoped reporting news 20 years ago and replaced that with trying to make news. But I hope the media continues down the road of “UM only gets recruits because of how much it pays” narrative. It is very useful in recruiting. As a narrative it is the equivalent of “she’s only popular because she is beautiful”. Tell that to a group of young men and see what happens.
Just ask:
Nick Saban
Pete Carroll
Every other SEC coach of the past 50 years (except Vandy coaches)
Every OSU coach after Woody Hayes
Every Kentucky basketball coach after Adolph Rupp (my brother in law played for Joe B Hall and Eddie Sutton)
Every Duke basketball coach starting with Coach K
John Wooden
Jerry Tarkanian

Mauigo starting as a True frosh and prob going top 20 next year in the draft I think helps a ton. You have a legit shot to come in right behind him with 2 of the best in the biz coaching you at a historical program on the rise.

Personally I never thought we were landing him so this situation feels a little different for me, but I see your point

#1 from de LA Salle, #1 from Missouri
While we weren't on a 20 year death spiral, we were being dismissed in 99. And most on Grassy didn't not believe butch was the guy
Some parallels

I don't see it but the OL coaching prowess gives us a chance

It would be a **** of a shot of juice, as last years class was a bit weak
