Imo kid just WANTS to be at UGA...
Is what it is...but no Pepe and no Cantwell is a pretty big fail.
I'm not sure why people say it's a big fail. UM Football is not in the same stratosphere as GA. We have won NOTHING of any significance for almost 20 years. Last year we have a generational QB and we didn't win the ACC nor get into the playoffs. You think kids don't see this and when they go on recruiting trips elsewhere head coaches are not pointing this out. My goodness we are lower tier college football team and many of you won't face it because you're living in the past. Mario is a very good recruiter and that's it. Until we get into the playoffs we will continually whiff on big name prospects as we have the past few years. The college atmosphere day game at GA blows away anything we have to offer.

It can’t be both. It’s either NIL is all that matters or it’s until we win we can’t recruit elite players each year and have to get lucky every few years with the highest end of the talent. OL is the one position group I believe we should be landing the elite of the elite given Mario’s history, focus, the NIL, and he will have proof of concept here with Francis as a likely top 15 player.

Yay! I remember when that meant fly the banner.

I consider Samson a bust at this point. it's not that hes not Cisco, its that he doesn't even play really at all and got passed up by a transfer immediately.
Samson year one we playing him and he got hurt then year two markell bell improved and rivers was healthy. We are in year three and markell is likely the starter and hopefully Samson is healthy and plays meaningful snap. I don't necessarily see anything wrong here. We haven't seen enough of Samson to call him a bust.

$2M is the new offer? Just wait until our boy Ruiz gets involved.

Because I don't think it's UGA spinning a narrative...I think it's other sources with other agendas.
Smells like Rosenhaus imo. Also makes me think UGA isn’t close in money. Why send this out over $100k? He leaves for UGA what, tomorrow or Friday? Reeks of send in the final best offer or we won’t hear anymore numbers.

I just shake my head at the fact that we had the #1 QB in the country and couldn’t even make a 12 team playoff. I can’t imagine what recruits think. Cristobal needed to be self aware enough of his reputation as “Mr Meltdown” to get recruits like this locked up immediately, as the longer he waited the more time it would give other teams to negative recruit against him. We had the best offer
for J. Smith, he didn’t trust Cristobal. We had the best offer for Cantwell, looks like he doesn’t trust Cristobal. I don’t know how Cristobal is going to improve his reputation. I think 2025 will be a 8-9 win season at best- and then what can he do after that to inspire recruits ? I don’t want to say he’s cooked yet but I think he’s getting dangerously close.

Literally have never seen a headline by one of the major recruiting networks stating any school has the highest offer since NIL has been a thing. I’m not the one to shout “oh woe is me and everyone is out to get UM” but that’s hilarious. They are really hammering this narrative and it’s a lose lose either way.
Bryce Underwood and Michigan happened. Also, Nico with UT. This is the #1 player in the country, he generates clicks. Add NIL and wala, you have a viral post. Also, why don’t we embrace that we pay the highest?

I guess I could see others thinking this is a lose/lose proposition for us, but that seems to be a short sighted strategy that doesn’t factor in if we do lose, knowing Miami was the high bidder would only interest more players to take his place.

As many times as I hear Miami is only in the race due to NIL, I think that only reinforces the idea that Miami is not afraid to spend and that will allow us to get initial interest by recruits.

Now, whether or not we can leverage these classes into a playoff spot/deep playoff run is what will determine how easily we’ll be able to close on situations like this in the future. I guarantee if we had made playoff last year with Cam, we would have even more momentum with recruits.

I get Smith. Like that makes sense. And like I get the whole wanting to win and playing for titles jargon. Is the goal to get pro ready or win? Smith going OSU makes sense on, Title contending team, best WR coach in probably any level, deep pedigree of highly drafted WRs.

It’s not as cut and dry for Cantwell. Do you sacrifice on field success for better coaching? I’m not trying to debate here, if people legitimately think Searles and Mario are equal OL coaches I’m not wasting my breath on that, but Mario is and has the better track record of OL in the league. If winning is top priority, absolutely go to UGA. I won’t fault you. But don’t spend months talking about wanting the best OL coaching and then pick Searles. It makes no sense.

The other point, I don’t know. If Mario wins 10 games again, I don’t think he’s cooked. Every coach since Coker won 9 or 10 games, (Manny won 8 during COVID would’ve been 9 or 10 in normal circumstances) and absolutely **** the bed the next season. If Mario can build upon last year and maintain that level recruiting won’t just implode. The sky is falling ideal in May is weird to me. We haven’t played a game yet.

“Number one recruit in the nation resists the temptation of historic NIL to play for CFB flagship in Georgia. Kirby Smart and Co go “old
school” to cement Cantwell in UGA’s 2026 class. This can be viewed as a breath of fresh air in an era where kids are seemingly going to the highest bidder. Hope isn’t lost quite yet, CFB fans.”

I hacked On3 and stole the draft articles from
Nakos and Fong.

They want this narrative and want it BAD.

Think they did about Oregon and Curtis. Maybe not as blatant but they put an article out saying Oregon paying over a million and Georgia under a million

Who told you we had the best offer for JJ Smith?

My understanding from this board was that UM had a significantly better offer than anyone else, then last second Ohio st upped their offer to get close to our number, and that was what JS waiting for. We still had the higher number.

Lol..how are we going to get into the playoffs without getting the top recruits like Pepe and Cantwell?
Not an attack on you...but this is pure contradiction at its finest.
Bottom line...this is a major fail not landing at least one of them. We'll see I guess.
