He is one of those guys whose name is being bandied about especially after working for
Tressel and Schiano.
He is a rah-rah, high-energy type with solid recruiting credentials, but with very little coordinator
experience, a type we are already familiar with.
Avoid, IMO.

Seems to be one of those young "give a good speech" and "win the interview" type of guys who recruits well. Flash over substance. I think we need more especially right now.

P.S. I like Herman too, but he's got a phenomenal little playmaker at QB. Greg Ward showed some really great flashes last year and took some games over on his own. He picked up right where he left off this year because he's dynamite.

If Houston got more pub people would be raving about Ward right up there with the best QBs in the country.

What are your thoughts on Jeremy Pruitt? He has long intrigued me as a recruiter and defensive mind.

No more "recruiters". Win at UM, and you will get all the recruits you need.

Pruitt is not just an elite recruiter. He's an ace coordinator, too.

What I like about Pruitt is that he understands elite college football and elite Southern athletes. The entirety of his college coaching experience is Alabama, Florida State and Georgia. One of Golden's biggest flaws is that his philosophies were shaped at Penn State and crappy Mid-Atlantic programs. That's all he knew before he took this job.

I agree that he's a very good coordinator. I like his style. I just don't think UM is in a position to take a chance on a coordinator with no track record at all as a HC. He could be the next genius, or he could be a total bust as a HC. Just because you're a good coordinator doesn't mean you'll be a good HC.

UM's situation is too dire to take that sort of chance. If we miss on this next HC we might as well switch off the lights.

I don't think Julio and the AD will approach it like that. But who knows...

I also am a big fan of Jeremy Pruitt...

I also agree with Kyle in terms of there is no way Mario Cristobal does not get interviewed..

Add Chuck Pagano to the list. He could be our Harbaugh. He and Irsay are at odds.

Why do you think he is leaving the NFL?

Miami will pay the necessary price to obtain Pagano because he is a "Miami" guy. I don't know if he will leave the league but I think a respectable offer will make him listen. Miami is not as broke as they pretend to be.

I don't think he is leaving the pros. He has done prety darn good so far.

Another name to consider.....Scott Frost....he's worked for and played for some good coaches prior to his time at Oregon..

He didn't do himself any favors at the interview sessions leading up to the NC game last year. He showed the personality of a tapir. Doesn't appear to be a guy ready to lead a major program.

I think Bill Lazor, Miami Dolphins Offensive Coordinator, would be a good hire or at least someone I would interview. His Offense in Miami would be phenomenal.

If I were the AD I would make the call. ****, if I were the AD, I would call Chip Kelly if he wants out of Philly. I reach for the stars. The next coach will be too important to **** up. I would talk to the President, boosters, etc and raise money to bring in the right coach. Miami can't afford to be cheap like he always has and not bring in the right guy for the job.

Of course not. Neither Herman nor Morris are even coaching players they've had a chance to recruit to their respective programs for a full year yet. Fuente's been at Memphis since 2012 and has his guys there. I'm interested to see what happens, but the outcome won't drastically sway my opinion.

Herman's my top choice. It's not like he suddenly ascended to the top with that Louisville win, though that was certainly a very impressive accomplishment. I was very interested in Herman for Miami if we rightfully fired Golden after last season.

- Comes from Urban's coaching tree and is implementing everything he learned under him now that he's at Houston.
- Adapts his offense to his personnel. He's spoken about this at length and it's a huge deal, especially with all the "square peg, round hole" nonsense we've seen under Golden here.
- Places a strong emphasis on strength and conditioning, which has been lacking here for a long time.
- Ohio State's national title run last year when they were down to their third-string QB? Herman developed all three of them (Miller, Barrett, and Jones) as OSU's QB coach and co-OC from '12-'14. He had a lot of talent to work with and that player development was a huge reason why they won the natty.
- Broyles Award winner in 2014.
- While Golden poisoned this team with a pathetic coal of winning the ACC Coastal in Year 5, Herman's Year 1 goal at Houston that he's conveyed to his players is to earn a Group of Five spot in the New Year's Day bowl games.
- To go along with his coaching prowess, which is the most appealing aspect of his resume, he's already landed a verbal commitment from a five-star DT. At Houston. He was also a great recruiter at OSU under Urban, so he provides the best of both worlds.

Fuente's an impressive guy, but I'm definitely focused on Herman the most. Curious to see how this season plays out for all the potential candidates we're following, though.

Not a fan of Frost. He's merely associated with a successful program that seems to be getting a little worse every year removed from Chip Kelly. I don't think he's had much at all to do with what's been going on there.

You're moving Herman further and further into my #1 candidate. Love everything that you wrote about him. This is exactly what Hurricane football was built on which makes him a no brainer. Sadly, this, along with his $2.25 million buyout, is the exact same reason why he won't be the head coach here next year.

I like Herman too, but don't underestimate how good his QB is. That kid's sensational. His transition at Houston is a lot easier because of the playmaking ability of Ward.
