ITT We Discuss Possible Golden Replacements

I think it will be important to keep Coley on the staff in order to keep this recruiting class intact. This should be a priority if Golden bolts. Does Coley have ties to any strong HC candidates (who would agree to keep him on as OC)? Would UM need to offer him the HC position to keep him and this class? With good coordinators, I think I'd be ok with offering him the HC position. Good recruiter, young and hungary.

What is Jim Leavitt up to these days?

The people that want Golden gone are in for a rude awakening when they see the underwhelming names for potential candidates. Won't be an A-lister in the group.

Aint nobody here got time for that. They are going to get their wish..... and wake up to their new nightmare. Most of these cats have NO idea what they are in store for.

This is kind of silly to debate. Miami has never been a school to go for the homerun hire. It won't be an A lister - it never has been.

James Franklin would be a home run.

Thread is a total waste of time.
He's not coming in any way shape or form.
I wish folks would drop it already.

You're the one person I'd like to hear from re: a list of candidates. If you're unwilling to post, please send me a PM. Over the last 15 years, you've rocked all of these.

Have I just missed all your posts lately or have you been in a drunken stupor since LVille?

Not drunk. But, a stupor indeed. That was a bad experience.

**** that. The right coach is way more valuable than any recruiting class. Hire the right guy and let him build his staff however he wants. If recruits bail they can kick rocks.

Highly doubtful that UM will pay for or get "the right coach." Starting over in the recruiting process will set the program back several years.

Get the talent here and even a monkey can bring them to the promised land. Ask Coker (and Les Miles).

Define "starting over."

Who would leave?

When's the last time an entire recruiting class fell apart when the coach left? It doesn't happen often. Maybe a guy or two jumps ship, but I don't expect a mass exodus.

Chud makes too much sense:

- Well regarded offensive mind
- years as stints as coordinator in the pros and even HC - great experience
- alum
- if hired, I think he'd retain a lot of the staff

It's the most seamless, quickest hire that DS can make.

Strong as HC
T-Rob as DC
Coley as OC

We can only wish
A lot of people in Louisville are saying Strong to Miami is a possibility if Golden leaves. I don't buy it, but he'd be the best coach for the job. He'd absolute lock down South Florida. Doesn't seem possible as Louisville could easily outbid Miami but man that's enticing. That'd be the only trade I'd make right now as I don't think Petrino is likely.

If it WERE possible, Strong would be incredible. Plus maybe Donna will feel good about herself hiring another black guy, so she may actually be down with it. Unlikely, but he'd KILL it here.
