it's too quiet ... i think we got a good team

It’s clear that Mario’s philosophy is OL first. He puts a premium on elite OL performance. I’m guessing his mindset is: While Kirby and the rest of them salivate over DTs and try to hoard them to win with DL as the strength of the team, he’s banking on a strong OL to negate that threat.

Chess move and I respect him for sticking to his philosophy. Will it work? I truly hope so because there is some logic there.

I’m not an OL guru like @gogeta4 and some of the others and I’ve always been a DL first guy, but Bill Parcells back in the 80’s in an interview said you build championship teams starting with the OL.
I think the winning recipe is to be elite on both sides. Problem is, there’s only so many Justin Scotts each year and everyone wants them. It’s not an excuse; it’s reality. Should we be landing more/better DTs than we have? Yes. Another way to do it is to develop the **** out of what you do land - Daylen Russell, the true freshman (name slips me). You gotta hit on some of those types if you can’t land James Johnson or Lamar Brown types.

Why is louisville taking a step forward? I don’t see anything they have added to say that. Think they will be about what they have been a 8-4 type team
Their offense will be better. They got the qb from USC, they have 2 legit RBs with Isaac Brown being the superstar of the team. Their WR core will have enough. TE is a question mark. They're defense can't get much worse.

It’s hard to go undefeated so i just hope when we do lose its not a terrible team or terrible timing that it hurts our playoff chances like last year

I don't think Moss will be as good as Shough was. Moss only year starting he had 18 TD's and 9 int's.

But what have they actually done to improve the OL or defense ? Seems like big assumptions being made that Brohm playcalling + skill players only will carry them to 8 or 9 W's. I find that doubtful.

18TDs and 9ints isn't that bad when you consider he played stiffer competition in the Big10 and they played LSU game 1. Shough had 23Tds and 6ints but played against ACC competition which included our sorry a** secondary. It's all relative.

I think Moss has more tools to work with but you might be right. Moss did get benched for Maiava.

He's done it in back to back seasons. Brohm can coach.

Our FG kicking game gives me a ton of concern. Kicking gets laughed at often and rightfully so. Kickers don't (usually) make tackles, open holes (pause) for RBs or WRs, set the tone of the game, let alone they simply aren't FyZiCaL. No one thinks about them...until they do. And that's my concern. Last thing I want to do is play ND or UiF tough as nails for 59.5 minutes, only to have the kicker come out for the game tying FG only to slip on the banana peel from 37 yards away.

All of our special teams. Returns, coverage, kicking, punting. All of it concerns me.

Have you seen an optometrist recently? You need to.

After you get fitted for your new glasses, watch this clip:

Dude could've set up a campsite back there, laid in his hammock, then still have time to complete the pass. Yes it's one example. Yes he was pressued a few times last year. However our O Line is clearly a strength, if not THE strength, of the team and that includes in the run game and the pass game.

Haha nice clip ;)

All I'm saying is we gave up 23 last season with a generational mobile QB, some of that is going to be runs that got stopped for a loss maybe. Anyway, I'll gladly eat crow in December if we're near the bottom of the ACC.

A lot of those were on the quarterback.

I feel that sacks could be a QB stat, to be honest. But, for as awesome as Cam was, and I wouldn't change a thing about him, how he plays did lead to a lot of sacks that weren't necessary. I don't think that'll be the case with Beck because that's not how he plays.

In 2023, UGA was 7th in the country in sacks allowed. 13 sacks in 14 games.

Can he do it again if there are other teams in the conference also improving ? Still don't see 9 wins for them
We'll see. I can easily see 8-4 with their schedule. 9-3 is a strong possibility too. Go look at their schedule. They'll more than likely start off 3-0 then they play Pitt. If they beat Pitt, they'll beat Virginia too. They'll be ranked and undefeated when we play them. After that, the competition stiffens but still opportunities to add wins against BC, VT, SMU and Kentucky. They’ll lose to Clemson. They beat the brakes off of Clemson last year so I expect Clemson to get it back in blood this year.

So qb is about the same as last year. Same rbs from last year but they are very good. And lose their best d-linemen and best DB from last year team. They were 13th in offense last year. I don’t see them being top 10 now. Defensively I could see them being worse. But I guess we will see

I'm worried about our FG team. Everywhere else I think we're going to improve. But a muffed FG has cost many team championships.

FG team literally has one job i don’t get how they can’t at least be serviceable. Someone educate me why they’re just doing nothing but kick all day every day between every meal.
