It’s kinda funny

I fail to see why these are mutually exclusive. So in your view, someone who "supports the players but not the coaches" cant be an angry booster, refuse to go to games until Diaz gets fired, tweet how much Diaz sucks, or call into radio stations and say Diaz is horrible? I think you are confusing the "I support the players but not the coaches" people with the "Diaz deserves one more year to see what he can do with a huge budget" people (who I haven't seen here in a long time, but I suppose they exist)
If you fail to understand by now that cheering for players/wins meant cheering for Diaz, as well, then this discussion is over. Wins meant Diaz was going to buy another year. It’s plain and ******* simple. Pound that chest harder!

Got to love the “super fans” who pounded their chest and bragged about how they couldn’t cheer against this team and “supported the players” knowing very well had coach Slip and Slide won out, he may have bought another year of all this misery. FSU, Virginia, UNC, and MSU did these kids and program a major favor.

Now, Blake is officially fired and serious change is coming, no thanks to you.

I'm confused here.

I'm an alum. I could never cheer against UM. But I have participated in many efforts and conversations to effectuate changes, including the firing of Blake.

I don't think there is a need to call out any UM fans, unless someone was actively denying that Blake and/or Manny were problems.

I realize that the losses contributed to the changes, but I still can't root for UM to lose.

I wonder if I should call back the Ticket Office manager who I had to argue with to get my Green Lot switched to Orange Lot, the one that I told "I will do everything that I possibly can to get Blake James fired" after he told me about how Blake was responsible for the creation of the Green Lot, but was powerless in moving the Green Lot.

Had we beaten Virginia, UNC and FSU then your complaints would have done nothing. If you’re still confused about that then good luck to you.

Let me ask you a question. If your own son was playing high school football on a team with a horrible coach and you felt the team needed a new head coach next season, would you be willing to look your kid and his teammates in the eye and tell them, "I hope you lose all the rest of your games because I want the coach to be replaced"?

It’s a nice program but it has a ceiling. That ceiling will shrink when Usc gets back going , most of Oregon’s success is when Usc is in the crapper.

Their ceiling (at a minimum) is playing in the national championship game and/or finishing #2 in the country because they've done one or the other (or both) in four different seasons during our last 20 years of irrelevance. Which basically means they have no ceiling. They are one of the handful of CFB programs that can actually win it all in the modern era.

They aren’t winning a title or they would have. They had a coach that was a decade ahead of the game while playing in a bad conference. Thats where majority of their success came from. They caught lighting in a bottle with chip. When Usc gets rolling again they’ll fade back into their rightful spot. Like I said “ it’s a nice program “ , but let’s not get crazy.

VT made the championship game in 1999 with a superstar QB once and won the ACC/coastal a couple of times but I wouldn’t say they are a program with a high ceiling.

Ok. Interesting response.

Let's summarize, you will root for losses and thump your chest on an anonymous message board, but in real life you would literally **** your pants if you were standing in front of a player and told to repeat what you are saying here: "I hope you lose all the rest of your games because I want Diaz replaced."

Oregon had their success because it landed a diamond in the rough coach. It was a one in a million chance. The guy who completely changed the game fell in their lap as the HC. The timing was amazing, he was ten years ahead of dc’s . That’s why he was winning at a crazy level with three stars. That doesn’t mean Oregon is some great program lol, Yhey haven’t been close to a natty since that guy left. That’s not a program , that was a coach lifting it to those heights.

But they've done it under THREE DIFFERENT COACHES, + Mario's current run, all in this era.

Come on, man. if you can play for it, you can win it. If you can finish #2, you can finish #1. Yeah, they haven't broken through but their "ceiling" is clearly winning it all. Is UGA's "ceiling" below #1 because they haven't won it all in our lives basically?

And like I mentioned they've had four different seasons where they've done one or the other or both, so we're not talking about a one or two year fluke run. Here we are on the Saturday before Thanksgiving with a chance to do it again with their 4th different coach. Wasn't just under Chip.

They went 11-1 and finished #2 with Bellotti.

They played for the NC and finished #2 under Kelly.

They won the Rose Bowl, played for the 'ship, and finished #2 under Helfrich.

They already won 12 games and won the Rose Bowl under Mario in 2019, had the #3 recruiting class last year, and while anything can happen over the next few weeks, right now they are #3 in the CFP Rankings and #1 and #2 have to play each other.

It's much more fun if we can stay objective around here. Unless we're talking about UF, ND, F$U or O$U*. Fark those guys.

Our kids don’t play for UM so we can separate the emotional tug from reality

Neither would I. See my post just above two spots up^. Not even a close comparison without even getting into resources.

Oregon’s brand is Chip. Take him away and they’ve been a top 20-25 program. It was a nice run but once again it was all on a scheme that was a decade ahead of the game. Tempo and that scheme was unlike anything in cfb. If you want to put them up there as some great program on that then fine. We’ll just disagree, I’m not calling it a great program off smoke n mirrors under a washed up coach.

You are a great poster but are you serious with this take?

Projecting psychic force? You actually think that is what we were trying to do or believed?

There were a lot of people that were fine with Manny winning out & keeping him another year. Blake clumsily sealed his own fate.
Yeah I remember thinking I don’t need to root for losses because Manny is gonna handle that for me. Same as Randy, same as Golden etc

But as much as losing to FSU pained me, it was softened by the fact that I felt it would speed up some of this process

I literally just showed you how they've played for the NC and/or finished #2 under three different coaches over 20 years (among other excellent seasons) which doesn't even include Mario's run over the last three seasons (12 wins in 2019 and current #3 CFP ranking). I just don't know how to illustrate this any clearer.

I rest my case!:)

Oh my god, you are stuck beating this drum.

The outcome of the games, and "rooting for Miami to lose" are two completely different issues. If Blake and Manny were amazing hires and capable of taking Miami to greatness, then we win those games, regardless fo how I root. And if they are not, we lose those games, regardless of how I root.

As for the complaints about Blake, they have absolutely been building up and having impact over the past couple of years. If you HONESTLY believe that Blake was fired solely for the UVa, UNC, and F$U losses, and would have been retained but for those losses, then you are clueless.

Agreed

They are a marketing program that has fielded some nice teams

But there’s no real powerhouse sustainability there
