It’s fair to question if Richt can win the big one. But..

If you want a coach to get you to 9/10 wins on a yearly basis, Richt is your guy. If you expect him to get you a conference title or even a national title, you need to check your expectations at the door.

Mark is far and away the best coach we have had since Butch and he would have won the NC that Larry did. Since not winning that one would had been almost impossible, the question is the.next one. Would Mark had beat the Vest, the next year or loss “the big one” again? OSU had a very good team and the vest was a good coach. I don’t know the answer to that.

At the moment I am trying to be happy about who we don’t have as coach and taking some solace in the fact that LSU beat auburn at home. That makes our *** kicking hurt a little worse this week. Also, rosier might have reacted positively to all our heat on him sucking. Too bad Perry did not take advantage on his snaps to crank up the drum beat for him. Hope Mark realizes that Butch wants to kick his *** more than anything else in the world right now and had long record of beating us at NC. I love Butch and wanted him as coach but I do hope Mark scores large win against him.

Moot point. I doubt Belichek has plans anytime soon of coaching a college team. And I've seen him go to players on the opposing team and shake hands and converse with them.

So what's your point?

I love that some of you never stop b!tching , it wasn’t a perfect win but do you guys remember what the past 10 years have been like with Randy Shannon and Al Golden, We still have some golden players on his team and that’s a problem , And honestly if we had a halfway decent quarterback I honestly feel like we would give Clemson a run. I want to championship just as much as anybody , But also remember right now is the perfect timing with Florida and FSU taking a dump on the field to start keeping as many local kids home as possible. I think Richt could get us there in the next couple years . GO CANES

919, do you really believe in your heart that MR will win a NC while here at UM? After 15 years of evidence to the contrary at Georgia? He's a great man, great ambassador for the program, and has already made us relevant again. But I just don't see him being the guy with the killer mentality like Saban or Urban to get us to that elite level. This is not an indictment on coach Richt because I'm happy that he's our coach. At the same time, I'm not convinced that he's ever going to lead us to a NC.

I think it is completely fair to question if richt can win a title as he hasn't won one BUT IT IS MADNESS to question whether he can maintain a top 10 program as he has done that for years. He built the badass UGA team that was last year and twice in his UGA career he had them as a top 2 team who was just a whisp away from playing for a title. He isn't a top 5 coach but he is for sure a top 10-15 coach and UM hasnt had one of those since Johnson .

To be honest I think it hinges on if we hit on an elite QB. I'm optimistic about Jarren.
 
With Richt it’s simple:

If he was a great coach he would still be at Georgia.

He’s got mind numbing faults but he’s also a good football coach with a lot of positive qualities and obviously a tremendous improvement over the last 10 years

Seems like we can’t stack great classes together for a long time now.

We get one great class and then follow it up with a dud, or two. 18 is obviously a landmark class but I don’t know if 19 can come through.

Until we fix that expect more of the same, we are good now with MR but we want to be great and elite that will take another guy to do it IMO. We have to change recruiting, u cant follow that 18 class with a low ranked class because 18 becomes a waste and we keep having this same cycle happen to us.

imo Canes aren't going anywhere until somebody replaces Rosier. A better qb beats pitt and whiskey last year, and makes the game against Clemson reasonable. A better qb beats LSU, a team that recruits better than anyone not named bama or now Georgia.

Yes and the misery that accompanies the 4 game losing streak, 3 of them national prime time games against ranked opponents that had their way with Miami, makes me feel at least that the despair being displayed by some is not totally off base or unwarranted.
