It’s December 1st..

We've been told for a bit now that the AD is going to be the one to make the decision on Manny. Even if that is not true and it will be other people making that decision, I would assume an AD will at least need to be in place before it happens to make it look like they are being honest about that. I am expecting nothing on the Manny front until we see an AD hired.

I would bet money on Epstein being the spiteful BOT member stirring **** up with the media

But regarding Manny Diaz, 1. I’d be shocked if he’s retained 2. If we are setting arbitrary deadlines for him, set it at Wednesday or Thursday of next week

This Friday and weekend is sink or swim time for change.

I’ve always subscribed to the phrase follow the money… there’s a lot more money on the side of changes occurring on so many other levels

Could Miami have gotten the process started a bit sooner??? 100%

Coming from the business world, you’ve gotta be able to stare your opposition in the face and not be afraid of silence. The weak minded guys like Epstein squirming in the face of silence makes me believe the Three Horsemen (Julio ; Rudy ; Joe) are working to deliver big time changes….

Maybe Mario doesn't want to walk out on his current team right before a championship game.
What does UM firing Manny have to do with Mario coaching the championship game??
If you suggesting that Mario secretly told UM not to fire Manny until after the championship game because he didn't want to answer questions about the UM vacancy...that seems unrealistic to me.

Based on what I believe will happen, I don’t think it’s entirely far fetched

Until Miami has its next HC in hand, it makes more sense to keep Manny Diaz in place than to operate without one…. On a short term basis anyway

Because as soon as Manny's fired, every reporter will be asking Mario if he's a candidate and that's a huge distraction when you're going into a conference championship.

Cause Mario doesn't want to have to answer questions about the UM opening before the Pac12 championship.

That’s a pathetic reason, plain and simple. Manny has actually been able to handle distractions, I sure hope our supposed main target can handle one media session where he has to shut down one rumor

It's about courtesy and respect. You can't treat people like crap and then just tell them they should be tough enough to handle it.

Manny strategically left town to visit recruits today. They can’t fire you if they can’t reach you

Respectfully disagree. I want him to be gone today and if the reason why it wouldn't happen today is so the coach that we will hire doesn't have to answer a bunch of questions about if he's coming to Miami, then I would argue those questions will still come unless Miami publicly declares Manny is coming back.

Manny should be fired today. We gain little, if anything, by not firing him today.

The day that I'll be truly panicking will be on Monday at like 8pm or later, if Manny hasn't been fired. This will have given Mario enough time to play in the PAC12 CH GM, have Sunday to dork around, cross all the T's and dot all the eyes on a contract, etc. If Tuesday rolls around and Manny hasn't been fired, I will start hitting the panic button. HARD.
UPDATE: I thought the PAC12 CH GM was on Saturday. Oops, it's on Friday. Well, that's definitely to our benefit!

Here's how I'm reading it now...

Lane hasn't done an extension and didn't get into serious contention with other jobs because (miracle of miracles) he really does want the UM job. This is not just good, but great!

UM has gone all in on Mario and when his game is over this Friday, he should have that evening to relax/celebrate and then we should either get a thumbs up from him on Saturday or we go for Lane.

And, if my theory is right about Mario not wanting to deal with questions about UM, then we should be able to fire Manny either late afternoon this Friday, or at the latest, by Saturday afternoon.

Lane will not wait forever, and his agent is hopefully applying the pressure to the brass at UM to crap or get off the pot. And look, if Lane is really willing to come here, it would be program suicide to not snatch him up immediately if Mario says no.

SOOOO....

I think it's very possible that we will have a HC announcement, AD or no AD, by the end of Sunday.

Anyway, that's how I'm reading the tea leaves.
