Is yearby in a camp

Doesn't he have a kid with another on the way ? I thought that's why he left .

How did leaving early help him with that?
how does him coming back to be a backup help with that ?

Well, we have actual proof of what happened when he left early. Undrafted and not even signed anywhere to be able to go to a camp and prove himself. Coming back for another year couldn't have resulted in anything worse than that result.

But he a) didn't know for sure it wouldn't work b) is young and dumb, c) is very confident in himself like every other athlete and d) didn't think he'd get meaningful PT this year. All that added up to him believing it was worth a shot. We all thought it was a bad move, but we're all a bunch of old geezers with life experience. Kid's an adult who needs to make choices but he's got little experience in the real world. We've all been there.

I understand he's young and confident and didn't know what the result would be. But the fact is that we now do know what the result was. So him coming back for an additional year couldn't have resulted in anything worse for him from a football standpoint.

You're missing the point. I'll give it one more shot. The guy said "how does him coming back to be a backup help with that (his NFL status)." I said we have actual proof now that him leaving early did nothing for him, so him coming back couldn't have hurt his status at all.

His current status is no one wants him. It can't get any worse than that. So coming back could only have improved or maintained that status. It couldn't have hurt it.

I'm rooting hard for Joe. If he can have a Ronnie Harmon type of career...a 3rd down specialist, he'll be just fine. He's def not an every down back, but on 3rd downs and you need a be coming out the back field, Joe is your guy. Hopefully he gets a crack.

It would be a major upset at this point for him to have a Ronnie Harmon-type career. ****, he'll be happy if he makes a practice squad.

True that.

Redskins signed another back (Kenny Hillard)

Wow. Man, Yearby must be slower than we thought or something. Teams just keep passing on him.

The guy they ended up signing ran a 4.83 at the combine (at 226lbs though). Not sure they picked the player based on speed

It was obvious to anyone who saw Joe run last season that he needs to slim down. He's a better football player at 195 running a 4.6 than at 220 running a 4.8+. I don't know who helped him with S&C during his NFL prep, but they did him a huge disservice. Losing that type of weight now that he has gained it will be a herculean task.

Yeah man...no way in the world he should be that big. No, and I mean, NO team will sign a guy who's only 5'9 running a 4.8+. The reason the 5'9 guys get picked up is b/c of their elusiveness. You ain't elusive running no 4.8. lol.

I'm not so sure staying would've helped his stock. He'd still be a small RB who runs a 5.9 forty. Another year wasn't going to change that.

I think it would have helped his stock because NFL people would give him credit for decision-making and being a good teammate.

I think you know, better than most, that Yearby left for selfish, ego-centered reasons. And in the NFL, they arent dealing with that unless you are a star! Or, at least, have star potential.

So, while I agree his "measurables" would not have improved ... I think his "intangibles" would have benefited from him returning. And I know our running back depth would have improved.

For all the knocks on his physical talent to make an NFL roster, the kid was a quality college back. And as a number 2 back, would have been significantly above average, IMO.

For sure.

not accusing anyone on here but yo u put a gator jersey or fsu on Yearby and the truth would come out with the homers. Another year wouldnt help hes too slow he will not be able to get around the edge in the nfl I dont who brings up any stat cause stats dont tell the whole story. Hes a FA for a reason
