Is Vasiljevic the worst "3 Pt Specialist" in history?

Full disclosure. I only post on the football & Recruiting board. Big Jack McClinton Stan though.

Very excited about this season, but my biggest pet-peeve is Dejan getting the Kyle Korver treatment from the announcers when he is average at best from three. Guy shoots 35% from the COLLEGE LINE, gets what seems like unlimited attempts, and appears to be a little out of shape. I don't get why he is labeled our knock down shooter.

Okay so I am new to this forum. I've been on to read what others have to say about Canes basketball but I've never posted until now. I would have to agree with the OP that DJ isn't a very good 3 pt shooter. I wouldn't say the worst in history lol. But he misses way more than a specialist should. The announcers do drool over how good he is at shooting 3s but they clearly have never seen him play before or ever looked at his numbers. He hit 3 threes last night in 4 attempts I believe. It was awesome to see and will be needed vs teams from the ACC. But he has not been a very good 3pt shooter in his time with the Canes but his stroke is nice and his confidence always seems high so maybe it'll pick up soon. I hope so anyways.

OP, when you start a thread with "LOOK AT ME" hyperbole you've earned dismissive responses.

Welcome to the forum. Glad to see I'm not alone thinking he's an overrated shooter.

Thanks man. I love Miami basketball and am down to discuss any topic. I've been bothered too about DJ and why he's considered a knock down 3 pt shooter. He has just awful games where he's like 1 for 10 and those seem more common than his 3 for 4 or 5 for 6 games. We definitely need him to become a knock down guy though!

DJ was just brutal yesterday. I can see why some clown would come on the board today and rip him.

12-27 from 3 the last 5 games, just horrible.

Yes he's 12 for his last 27 but 13 for 37 on the year. Can't just go by 5 games and leave out his worst which by the way was just terrible. Especially coming off of that great performance in the exhibition. Last year he was a 35% shooter from 3. He's gotta shoot well vs real competition because once league play starts we will definitely need him to do just that.

1. What is 13 by 37?

2. What did he shoot last night against real competition (on the road)?

Consigliere... Read my post again. It clearly says 13 for 37. Not 13 by 37. You even quoted it and it says 13 for 37. As in he has shot 37 threes this season and made just 13. Not a great percentage if you ask me. Or anyone for that matter. He shot 3 of 5 vs Minnesota which is good. I enjoyed seeing him draining 3s especially when he got lucky and banked one in from deep.

He's streaky. Might apply to Amp, Lykes, and Walker as well. Newton, you don't want shooting 3's, and the jury is out on Brown's long-range game. Right now, if the opponent is playing zone, DJ - despite the rough start - is probably the first guy you go to.

DJ was working on scoring off the dribble.

Still, a streaky 3 point shooter brings decent value to any roster.

And what is 13 divided by 37?

35% that's what he is. I think we have enough stats on the guy. He shoots 35% from the 3. Sure he has games where he's on but obviously he has many more games where he is not on. Hence the 35%.

If you want to count it all then count his 8-11 from 3 in the exhibition game too. It's early in the season, but DJ had one bad game against Gardner Webb that's dragging down his official %. He was a freshman last year, and he's all of 6 games into his Sophomore season. It's a bit early too label him a lousy 3 pt specialist.
