Is this guy's seat hot?

LOL @ his seat being hot. His seat is charred and all that remains is the reminder that we hired a ******* failure and wasted 4 more years. Golden is done.

Golden seems to win the games he is suppose to win until he loses a few games he is suppose to win he isnt going anywhere soon...

Golden is supposed to win every game but FSU, considering he has a talent advantage in every one of them (except FSU). He is not gone yet. This theory is false.

So you believe we should have 1 loss this year? Once again vegas had us pegged at 7.5 wins so 8 wins... They dont handicap coaches they set lines on talent depth maturity we are no where near a 1 loss team.,... Take of the green and orange glasses for a second i for one think we need to start winning games were not supposed to like the ga tech game... But until golden loses games like the cincy game he wont be fired
You may be right. I will remember when i see more canes on training camp rosters than yellow jackets that the handicapping isn't influenced by a coach who isn't worth ****, has a terrible record against good teams and has nothing on his resume to suggest he knows what he is doing. I will remember next time this years luther robinson gets burn in the nfl it wasn't because the coach is a ******* moron who cannot develop guys in his own system, or change his system to fit what he has it is not the coaches.

take the ****-of-folden covered contacts out and stop trying to defend the worthless tie wearing ******. If we had a top 20 coach with this roster, we would be a top 20 team with 10 wins this year.

Did you mean to actually post that?

A lot of people were really voting for Blake James to take the job and he hasn't been in office too long. The reason most people were for him is because he's a "Miami guy" unlike the past two that bolted for Nebraska and Texas Tech. He wasn't going to fire a coach after a 9-4 season (which was improvement at the time). We'll see what he's made of this season. Too early to write him off as AD. Now if he keeps our coaches intact for another year, it's time to throw out the whole office.

Blake can earn a lot of political capital with the fans if he fires Golden right now.

I doubt he has the balls to though.
LOL. Blake is not elected to his job by the fans.

Not true at all. Not even close. They set lines based tendencies and statistical data compiled from pass performances that then get put into a multi-million dollar patented algorithm to dictate the spread and line. I would know, my brother has help run a book for 10 years now. But keep being an ignorant moron and making definitive statements that support your warped, bull**** opinion that this team doesn't have talent. For ****s and gigs, read this awesome article based on actual statistical sampling about how "untalented" this team is and get back to me. On the continuum, we perform right around the same program as...yeah, Michigan. We are averaging a top 15 class yearly and finishing in the 40s with a significant correlation found between recruiting ranking and on field success. But we just don't have the talent to win, right?

Lines are not set in the beginning of the year on that i should know my brother runs one of the largest sports books in the world... Seconds yes during the year starts are involved there also is a panel that determines the line the machine you talk about is made by cgi... Carry on with your nonsense

Lol of course the coach is taken into consideration when they handicap a game.

Utter nonsense.... And sorry i dont use deadspin for my views of teams wow

Oh ya, list some more future pros for me while you tell me about how the talent is not in miami's favor. Perhaps, with more future pros, one can point to a scheme issue if said future pros are not delivering wins at the college level. As we know, the players choose the scheme, that is not a coach issue, and cannot be taken into account when handicapping betting lines either (in regards to coach impact).

you are good at this. i'll shut up now, as i am clearly outclassed.

No he didn't develop Denzel. First of all, Barrow had to beg Golden and D'Onofrio to offer him in the first place and it was all due to Barrow's eye for talent. Denzel got better under his guidance, not Golden's.

Second of all, coaching is definitely taken into account when making the betting and prediction lines. Your brother can pound sand and is probably a paranoid schizophrenic lying to you about his career.

Third of all, even if we are the underdogs going into games, we are underdogs by 5 points at the most and we're getting thrashed by double digits regularly every loss.

Fourth of all, if your barometer for success is beating teams we are supposed to beat take your spineless support to Rutgers or UCONN. This is Miami where we beat the powerhouses, not Utah where we are content to keep up with them and hope our way to a win. We are more talented with our 4 stars and up then every team we play this year except FSU. Vegas has our talent at 11-1 but the coaching effect makes us 7.5 over/under.

And most importantly, you are a backtracking *****. You've been saying on this board about how Al was the next Saban and was going to wreck college football this year. Instead, he's getting smashed by the extremely average Louisville's and Nebraska's of the world and losing to the mediocre Georgia Tech's. His seat is very much hot and the only reason there's even a question to it is because of the buyout implications. You've been a blatant Al Golden fan first and a Miami fan second. You're also the genius that said, "We all know Calvin Ridley is a silent commit." When Al gets fired, I'm sure you'll be the biggest fan of Indiana's linebacker coach (Al) that the world has ever seen.

How you've managed to a blatant troll for so long and skim under the radar is beyond me. I look forward to the day you are banned or follow Al to whatever northeast, jerkoff school he goes to.

Did someone say were 3-3 with a 6-0 roster your kidding right? ......
What team is more talented then us that we've played this year? We've had the best players every week yet we still lose to teams with no talent.
Nebraska. Just look at the recruiting rankings for the last four years. Plus we're missing almost 30 guys from those four or five classes due to attrition. With that said, a decent coach could take our team and beat that poorly coached NU team...

According to 247. we've averaged the #17.25 recruiting class over the last four years while Nebraska has averaged the #26 recruiting class. We had more 5 stars in 2012 alone then they did in that whole 4 year span. We've destroyed them in recruiting. The class rankings prove that.

Your brother either doesn't exist, doesn't own that job, or is an outright liar. The latter is certainly possible, because lots of guys who work in the sportsbook or offshore oddsmaking industries love to pretend that it is exponentially more complicated and sophisticated than it really is. That enables them to be big shots when really they are nothing more than someone like me, a guy who knew sports, knew related math, and happened to impress enough people once I moved to town. That helped me get a job as sportsbook supervisor at the joint taking the biggest action in town. I saw the way it really works, participated in those oddsmaking sessions and decisions for years, still have connections behind the counter, and on site to site I'm not going to let any blowhards pretend the oddsmaking business is somehow mysterious.

Tendencies, what a joke. It's all based on power ratings. Nothing more. Power ratings that are readily available. Adjusted by home field. When Las Vegas tries to make numbers on sports without reliable power ratings they guess and flail and can be comically vulnerable. Unfortunately that is mostly gone. I used to bet into sports like women's college basketball at the Mirage in which I'd give -19 at the opening number while knowing it would shoot up to -33 or higher. That's not an exaggeration. Mid '80s through late '90s. Once power ratings on that sport started to show up on the internet, Las Vegas unabashedly "borrowed" them and their numbers tightened considerably. My edge was all but gone.

If anyone wants a real world glimpse into how odds are set, how incredibly basic it is, then read this link. I'm very grateful that this piece showed up online last year. That's what an oddsmaker meeting looks like and sounds like. Nothing has changed in the 25+ years since I first became involved. Well, the guys dressed up for the photo, obviously knowing their picture would be taken. Normally it's casual attire, and that's being kind. The guys can look like bums. Decades ago they carried notebooks and clipboards into those meetings, with their power ratings and home field digits scribbled everywhere. Now it's mostly computerized but there are still some guys who prefer the old way. Take note of how simplistic and brief the discussion is. That's 100% valid and representative. There's no debate over tendencies and statistics. The primary concern is which team do the oddsmakers believe will draw the early action? If there is a consensus the chief oddsmaker might shade the number slightly in that direction. Otherwise the discussion is very, very brief, often not more than 30 seconds devoted to most games. Everybody has their power rating ready and their estimate of the proper number.

BTW, sad to note than one of the guys in the photo passed away not much later, Rick Herron. He was at the Sands sportsbook during my early years in Las Vegas.

BTW, it's ridiculous to suggest that odds aren't set at the outset of the year. That's how the season win over/unders are set. They aren't outright guesses. An estimated spread is assigned to each game on the schedule, and the approximate win likelihood flows from that spread. Every spread carries an associated money line. For example, a 5 point favorite has roughly 2 chances in 3. The entire slate is evaluated along those lines and the season win number is set. Again, it's not exactly complicated, especially for football with only 12 games in college and 16 in pro.

Some joints offer bettable early season lines, albeit low limits. That has been going on for more than 20 years. The downside is need to tie up money for many weeks or months but the advantage can be considerable if you have a good feel for line movement. I have several friends who bet it back in the direction of the original number. For example, let's say UCLA was -3 vs. USC in the August line. But once game day shows up in late November, the line is now UCLA -10. My buddies take the +10 on USC under the logic that the two teams are probably closer to even than the late number suggests, based on that 3 point number before any games were played.

And miami over under was 7.5 wins -150 so basically 8 wins this was before kayaa was listed as the starter it than dropped to 7 wins... Does that mean we shouldnt win more no ... But people saying we are loaded and have all this talent thats just crazy ... Is it the end all absolutely not some teams suprise either way ...

In your next post, name five players we have already played that are significantly better than their Miami counterpart. We have been the most talented team 6 out of 6 games so far.

We are ******* 3-3 in his fourth year with a roster that should be 6-0.

Gluten is basically sitting on a five alarm fire at this point. Not even his 74x30 Kirkland brand Khakis could smother this raging inferno.

talented doesnt mean a better team we are a depleted team starting a qb who has made crucial turnovers ... Are depth is terrible ... Every qb we played is better than kayaa at this point... Every offensive line we played was better than ours... Lville defense and nebraska defense was better than ours... On and on and on
