Is the decline real at UGA?

Then got bounced 1st round of playoffs and finished with 3 losses.

Last time they finished with 3 losses was 2018, wouldn't shock TrumpyCane they finish with 4 this year, they still have AT Auburn, Ole Miss, Texas, UF, AT Miss State, they could easily lose 2 there

And the cfp winner dropped two games last year with only losing a center in November. The rosters are thinning out on top. It may not be this year but I do think we continue to see these bag schools suffer and at some point others will win.

At a minimum, the bag schools only win 1 every 7-10years vs 2-3 in 4-5

That means that coaching and player acquisitions are all the more important. Look at what Kiffin is doing with a Division II transfer QB. That's all coaching and player acquisitions. I think the only BCS program to offer Trinidad was Temple. I like what Cristobal is doing. NIL and the portal is exposing coaches who had unfair advantages who were never really good coaches.

Ms Terry's husband would like a word w/ you:

You're right those schools are still top recruiting classes but in TrumpyCane's opinion the portal is negating that somewhat

If this was 5 years ago a guy like Damon Wilson would still be at UGA, instead transfers to Mizz.

Yes, the portal is the real key, not so much NIL, but now we see the NCAA is tightening its FA market, too.

You know Muschamp is their DC whenever Vandy season ends. Muschamp's son plays at Vandy and he follows Vandy to every game. But, when Vandy isn't playing their defense looks good and that's because Muschamp is the real DC. I don't buy the hype with Lanning or Glen Schumann.
I have read this 10 times and can not figure out wtf you are saying

So you are admitting that Bag schools aren't as powerful now?

No, not at all. I’m saying the portal has helped with smaller teams getting a piece of the pie, but until we see non bag schools win the chip & recruiting battles, then 🤷🏾‍♂️

You kidding me?

Texas Tech Tenn Maryland Houston Miami have the top 6 players committed for 2026 in the top 10 on 247. Cuse, BYU, USCe, FSU all getting 5* kids as well. Long way to go, I know.

In 2024, you had the likes of CU, Texas Tech, UFx2, Mizz, Miami x2, Neb, Tennx2, USCe landing 5* kids = 11 of 35
In 2019, you had 6 of 35 5* to non-bag schools

OK?

They have a lot of good players but they don’t have great players any more.

Who are the slam-dunk first rounders on the roster?
Had a stretch where the defense was rolling out one stud after another. Still have real good players, but don’t see as many monsters on DL.

😂back at you.

The odds continue to improve for the likes of Miami and other non-bag schools. Parity is ******* 10x better than seeing Satan win 3-5 more
Getting 1 5* when other schools are still getting 3 or 4 isn't parity. You are conflating improvement with equal. The overwhelming majority of top players are still going to the same places. The stranglehold has loosened and players aren't sticking around anymore, but they are still firmly ahead. The problem is when teams are successful coaching staffs are poached and these replacements have been detrimental. Lanning leaving uga hurt more than NIL or the portal imo.

I'm a big believer in coaching but I'd actually say it is more about the players leaving via the portal than any coaching. Beck at UGA, they beat Bama. Sayin at UGA, they beat Bama. Add in the kid at Mizzu from UGA... You also forgot the OC left (moniken) who I believe was the best OC in college at the time. Bobo has always be subpar. Moniken ran 3-4 offenses in one and could adjust schemes to the roster.

I honestly don't give 2 ***** if bag schools sign 3-4 when only 1-2 stay. Heck, they pay big $$$ for those kids and can't get them on the field fast enough only to see them transfer out.

Sure, I could be completely wrong and we never see another non-bag school win a ship. Personally, I think we are at least getting much closer to the days of anyone can win than the days of Satan winning all.

I agree we have a more legitimate path. I am still not sure how close we are as a team. This next 45 days will tell me everything.

100%. Texas Tech is another that appears to have a legitmate path and team.

I actually think we get past FSU and things could really unlock for the team on both sides as we get to weaker unbalanced teams. Even FSU is stronger on O than D. UL is another O heavy. Stanford can hardly beat G5 teams (1pt). Cuse is dead without a QB. VT is living a dream if they think a new coach solves their problems for more than a couple games. Pitt, SMU, and NCSt could be interesting but again very unbalanced teams.

Still, we aren't talking CFP... we are just talking getting to the CFP which should be EASY with the talent/roster we have. As much of a Miami fan as I am, I still want the CFP to be a hot mess of non-bag schools fighting for wins. Texas Tech beats Oregon/OSU type ****. Miami beats UGA/Bama. As fans of college football, I want Vandy to beat Bama this week. If the Rellyrell is about chips, we want craziness every week within the SEC/B1G. Let them have injuries and issues so the CFP does come down to many teams not just Baggers.

I have read this 10 times and can not figure out wtf you are saying
🤣🤣 I think he's trying to say because Muschamp's son plays for Vandy he's always on the road attending Vandy's games to watch him play. And whenever Vandy isn't playing, Muschamp is free to step in and run UGA's defense and make it look how it's supposed to look. That Lanning was/Schumann is just a figurehead DC.
