IS Miami looking to leave ACC..

Are yall smoking Angel Dust with this B1G talk???

Yall wanna travel to Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Illinois & sh*t every fckin year?

We get screwed over in the ACC, you think them Midwestern traditionalist are going to let us go up there & take over their conference?

The ACC is really the only place that makes sense for us & the SEC would be a Death trap.

If we did move the only place we could go would be the Big XII & be the new premier school as the replacement for Texas & Oklahoma, but otherwise it’s either ACC or go Independent & going Independent would be a bad decision too because we’d be excommunicated from ever having a shot at the playoffs.

Totally agree ACC is the best place for now. But if we HAD to join another conference, I'd go the B1G before SEC. I think the Big XII is almost dead. Not sure UM could revive it. If Clemson declines, I think the ACC is going to heavily lean on UM to be its only hope for national titles. We might actually get favorable calls. If the playoffs get expanded to 8 teams, it changes the calculation a bit. It might be worth exploring independence (or going ND route and being part of conference for all sports but football) , since it seems highly unlikely that an undefeated UM will be left out of an 8 team playoff.

Amazon has been desperate to get football and would probably throw a ton of money at certain schools for exclusive rights (btw on the sports networks now when they talk about coaching changes at "brand name schools", UM gets mentioned with USC, Notre Dame, and LSU. Interesting that we're a brand name again). If UM starts looking like a national contender, it would be nice to set up our own TV deals (maybe in partnership with other independent schools). Anyways, I think it's just UM playing hardball with the acc and I think it's great.

I don't think it makes sense to pick a conference primarily on the weather. It's gets **** cold in the south too. It's 51 degrees in Ann Arbor today and 55 degrees in Columbus. 53 in Atlanta. B1G schools have access to 10 billion in research money and it has vastly superior academic reputation. The only sport that might have to deal with cold is football. Not going to be an issue for baseball or basketball. And on the flip side, the teams from the north are going to melt when it's 90 degrees with 90 percent humidity. So the weather advantage is evenly split (actually a little more in UMs favor since we have more home games than away games).
The weather does however affect the brand of Football.

The reason why most B1G teams have those stout OL’s with a Power run game aside from the caliber of recruits they have to choose from regionally (which is also dictated by weather) is because playing that Midwestern/Northern style ball in the winter time you have to have a game that translates to the conditions you’ll be playing in. B1G style is slow paced plodding run heavy, because it’s cold as sh*t & aside from Ohio St & Purdue nobody else in that conference can throw the ball or have prolific offenses.

It’s a Pro Style Bro Utopia, which is exactly the opposite of what Miami needs to be doing.

Wisconsin & Michigan State have both whooped our *** in the recent years we’ve played them despite us having a better talent advantage than them, because their style of Football is specifically designed to deal with teams like us, we’d be like fkin Guppies trying to bang it out in the trenches with the B1G.

And yes even with Mario recruiting the trenches we wouldn’t be able to consistently hang with that brand of football, look no further than Utah. Miami’s best bet is to just master what we are already & dominate in the ACC, running up North would fck us over royally as a program...

Idk if you remember the Penn St vs Illinois game that went into 9 OT’s, that kind of Football is just disgusting lol

Always hated the ACC...the officiating in all sports was always fvcked up against us and it was blatantly obvious to not just Canes fans

No SEC...would be railroaded even worse
It’s already been put out there that the Big 10 wants us and if we left the ACC that’s where we’d go. I think the BIG also thinks getting us, also gets them notre dame and they can put us two in the weak west division to strengthen it up.

Not too bad....

However with Big 10..there is 1 thing I dont like...cold weather games

I've been saying this was going to happen. No inside info, I'm just really ******* smart.

The SEC's new TV contract is going to be worth 4x as much as the ACC's. That's not sustainable for Miami, PERIOD, end of discussion.

Secondly, look at all the money and resources we're committing to football now. That's strategic. Look at the stadium plans. That's strategic as well.

Look, this is how it works with Miami. We go through cycles. We suck for a while, then we get serious, we win a natty, and we join the big east. Win a natty, join the ACC. We'll win another natty (not being a homer, just saying with this type of investment like we're seeing now, it's all but inevitable), and we'll join the SEC.

Then look at who we hired as AD. It's no secret that Radacovich was working on a plan to get Clemson in to the SEC before we hired him away. That's no coincidence.

Final point is on the stadium. The SEC and Big10 won't accept us without one, preferable on campus or across from campus. It's gonna be the price of admission. Which is why I've been saying... I bet it happens.

We have to start winning in the ACC. These awful deals are in place because Miami and Fsu haven’t pulled their weight and Clemson does not have enough eye balls nationally to maintain the conference. Bottom line is that we need to win and bring in Notre Dame.

If the conference is still in trouble then at least we’re winning and we’ll be attractive to one of the stronger conferences.

I'll go to my grave believing that donna shalala agreed to keep UM football down as a negotiating element of getting into the ACC. The ACC has some ungodly financial restrictions that prevent schools from leaving the conference. Now that UM is looking to rebuild the football program to "pre-donna" era levels, all the sudden we see this topic. Hmmm???

Mike Ryan (Dan Lebatard show) said something along those lines, but he said it was wild speculation. I think the school would like to make the ACC leadership sweat a little bit and have a better plan for the future, SEC dropped the hammer on CFB and the ACC can't even negotiate a good TV deal

I been saying something about South Carolina that applies to us right now. SC should leave the SEC and join the ACC. Easier road to a championship here. We need wins to build back to where we were before. Playing UGA, Tenn, UK, LSU, Bama and their ilk every year will keep us down. We can't win the ACC but we want to leave? No. Wont he ACC a few times then start talking that mess.

It’s got nothing to do with competition or who else is in our conference. It’s about the ridiculously poorly negotiated TV contract that the ACC is stuck with. When the new SEC deal kicks in, those schools will be making almost 4x’s as much money as the ACC schools are getting. It’s up to the commissioner and his lackeys in the ACC offices to renegotiate the TV deal and get these schools paid somewhere close to what the rest of the P5 conferences are getting or it won’t just be Miami looking for a way out. TV money is what pays the bills and no boosters or ticket sales would ever be able to make up the difference.
The $EC is making that much because of the competition and who is in their conference. SEC has many big named programs and full stadiums. ACC doesn’t have that kind of demand. Not even close. ACC isn’t competing with SEC nor Big 10.

Cups Whatever GIF

The ACC needs to make a serious play for a few SEC schools or ND and 1 SEC school to get to 16 full time members. One that fits the basketball profile and has a good football base too.

I’m thinking Auburn or Kentucky.

Swiping Kentucky basketball would be a serious move. Idk how likely it is or remotely possible.

I do.

I hope we stick around and kick another ******* in Clemson's backside. Love to see Mario go on a revenge tour. UNC and Clemson need their comeuppance.

Go Canes!

Big ten or SEC, and it's not close. Mario got a W in Ohio State, arguably the best team in the conference with a whack QB.

All this hate to the ACC can attributed to Miami failure to live initial expectations.

When Miami joined the ACC, everybody expected Miami/FSU battle for the ACC crown and be in national title picture.

ACC still waiting on Miami to leave up on its end of the bargain. Thankfully, there's competent leadership in place.

Things will get better, once Miami reclaim its throne.

This is just the dumbest thing going. Why is anybody listening to that Twitter Twit? Why is there even a thread here? Leaving the ACC would be foolish. We play in a conference that we could dominate and be the face of the conference while having a clear path to the CFP every year. The ACC is strong in men's and women's basketball, soccer, golf, tennis, and baseball. It's also one of the best conferences academically. Chasing a few extra dollars is no reason to leave the conference. Texas and Oklahoma will find that out when they become irrelevant in the SEC all in the name of chasing more money.
