I feel like a broken record when I say no but history tells you it isn’t. But who cares? The job doesn’t have to be desirable. You only have to pick the right guy
This. I don’t have a particular coach in mind (but this loss just make me want Cristobal or Lane just because). We need a coach who will actually coach, hold these kids accountable, and run the program as it should be ran. It’s a complete clown show now. Also recruit and DEVELOP!I feel like a broken record when I say no but history tells you it isn’t. But who cares? The job doesn’t have to be desirable. You only have to pick the right guy
Emphatically YES!!Or are we delusional fans? We discuss names like cristobal, kiffin, leach etc..but whats make us think theyll their current situation to come here? Especially considering we cant pay more than what theyre currently making? I understand the fertile recruiting ground argument, but it isnt the 80's or 90's anymore, all the big schools seem to pluck the best talent out of south florida (there are a few exceptions).
Richt was basically on automatic pilot here at Miami and mailing it in - just collecting a paycheck, same as his latter years at Georgia.Richt didn’t have a nice little run in 16 and 17? First above average coach we have and we put together a very nice two year run before his health and stubbornness to prove he could still OC did him in
Ehhhh idk he seemed to have very noticeable fire those first two years…. He was definitely noticeably different in 18 and especially 19 health wise….Richt was basically on automatic pilot here at Miami and mailing it in - just collecting a paycheck, same as his latter years at Georgia.
247 Sports did an evaluation of the top 25 Football Head Coaching jobs and in their evaluation Miami came in at #14, with FSU $15 and Oregon #16. High profile brand in a hot recruiting area.Or are we delusional fans? We discuss names like cristobal, kiffin, leach etc..but whats make us think theyll their current situation to come here? However .. IF the UM BOT can demonstrate .. via the hiring of a new high power AD .. that the commitment and money is there for a head coach ($6 million a year level +), money for quality staff to live in a high cost of living city, financial support for an elite recruiting and "analyst" staff, then UM might very well be way above "middle of the pack". That is what we are waiting to find out. Should know a lot more in the next 60 days. When you ask yourself this question you have to look at it objectively and completely separate your love for UM from the question.
Look at it as if you were an stablished coach with no emotional attachment to UM....if you were considering taking this job there are things you would need to consider.
Is the financial support I need to be successful there?
Can I hire the staff I need?
Can I hire the support staff I need?
Is the financial support for facilities there?
The answer I think is that we are in the middle of the pack as far as being an attractive job.
I don't disagree with that....but knowing how this administration works that is one of those "believe it when I see it" type of things. The change you describe would take a lot of work and commitment. One thing that has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt if that when it comes to athletics this administration is incredibly lazy and incompetent. However .. There are MILLIONS and MILLIONS of reasons this is the right job. Now it’s time to hire the RIGHT coach.
Right! Jimbo went to A&M for 100 million. Texas is now irrelevant. Money talksWe are as desirable as we pay
Bull****. The guy worked hard when he got here, both in- and off-season.Richt was basically on automatic pilot here at Miami and mailing it in - just collecting a paycheck, same as his latter years at Georgia.
Nonsense.Bull****. The guy worked hard when he got here, both in- and off-season.
Win immediately means beat shltty teams with significantly less talent. Nobody here is expecting a championship in year 1. Just beat the teams you outtalent. It's not.... You pretty much have to win immediately here or the fans will come for your head, you pair that with a lack of support from the Admins and it's not very dispersible. No one has really won here in 20 years.
