Is Manny learning to win and coach? 5 Dubs out of last 6!

Not bad other than the ******* FSU loss.
If we do not land any of our top 3 coaches, we will bring Manny back another year and shoot our load in 2022. Fvck me.
I thought Manny was 100% gone, but we cannot settle for our 4th choice at head coach and waste that money.
I think it makes it a necessity with Rhett leaving, who will come here knowing Manny will be on hot seat next year.
I just pray the BOT make good, solid decisions and we are mostly satisfied with what they choose to do. Pray with me, please.
Thoughts on the realistic option of Manny coming back if we can't land one of our top three choices?

Do you settle for our 4th choice at HC or do you keep Manny 1 more year and roll the dice next year?
Players seem to love Manny!

Peace out!

No, sir, LCE. I think Manny needs to go, but my question is...if we don't get Mario or Lane or Stoops do we settle for a 4th,5th or 6th choice OVER Manny, knowing he may be here 3-4 years and be overpriced because we are desperate.
YES!

The other options are better than Manny.

Run down a list of coaches, the overwhelming majority of them will be better options than Manny.

If yall think we can until December 2022 to get Mario then yall will be sadly mistaken.

And waiting for a new hot name coach to appear next year is hapless game to play, there are no guarantees this job will be anymore attractive than it is now, by waiting an extra year yall are assuming things will get magically better during the time when if yo haven’t been asleep for the last 20 years you know things rarely ever get better but rather worse at Miami.

This is Miami’s best opportunity to turn the tide & change for the better, prolonging another year of ineptitude with Manuelo is not smart move by any measure, it’s a sign that we’re still a clown show & not to be taken serious as program.

Y’all are smart. You should know the Ws came from kids playing their hearts out, executing pride, not from Mandys efforts.

Cause we keep going on the cheap bringing in coaches that are doing OJT at Miami ( except Golden who I think might have been alright if he was willing to fire his buttbuddy and Richt who was 1 step into retirement)

If you want to stop the losing hire a HC that knows WTF he’s doing and is respected enough that good coordinators and other staff people will come with him…
You want to continue what has been for 20 years leave Manny in place cause next year Manny will be the DC again and lord knows who will be the OC ( and he’s gotta take 2-3 guesses) because he’s a lame duck coach and no sane coach that values his career is coming here to coach. Its simple like most anything else in life…you get what you pay for.

We been paying for garbage coaches and we’ve been getting and will continue to get garbage results.
I mean..the guy did put together a good staff. We’ve been tryna get Raymond or Trob on staff for years. He got 1 of the 2. We wanted a Better LB coach he hired one who left for a better Opp as a DC. We wanted a legitimate offense, he went out and got a OC whose about to go be a HC… so as I said these issues predated manny..everyone is on board for us to go get a elite proven guy..but y’all can miss me with putting all this at the feet of manny..let’s go get our guy but in the meantime stop all the *****ing and moaning..wishful thinking I know

Honest question:

1- get our 5th or 6th realistic choice and commit $30M and a 5 year deal to them...

or

2- pass and bring back Manny, JUST LIKE THE NEW USC AD DID BTW... show CFB we're truly committing the resources we're talking about over the next year, and bag an alpha a year from now.

Seriously asking.

I see the apologists are gonna slowly start shifting to this narrative.

lol. The fact that you can even type this out after the season we had is disgusting.

I believe this is a legitimate question by OP (who I also believe is not a troll, but just a bit weary from the many **** moves by UM football over the last 20 years). So I'll share here what I texted a group of friends last weekend re: my thoughts on UM's next HC. Pay particular attention to No. 6...

Where my head is currently at:

1. Kiffin
2. Freeze
3. Cristobal
4. Napier
5. Herman
6. Fold the program.

Two of those now appear out of play. If we can't get one of the other three, fold the **** program because we're probably toast anyway.
Thanks, NFZ. I think if we can't get one of top 3, we may have to wait until next year to get the party started, just saying. Don't **** away money/time just to get another 8-9 win coach for 3 years.

It depends on what he took over to begin with. This is less about manny and more about the football program. The losing started well before manny. He’s just the latest HC we’ve grown to dislike
There are too many red flags with Manny for me, which have been discussed ad nauseum so I'll spare you. If the university decided to fire him and pay a potato $4M to coach next year, I'd at least be optimistic that his defense is no longer around to get bent over every time we need a 4th and ump-teen stop to win a game.

This team was never going to make a CFP run, but it was capable of much better than 7-5.

Agreed the problems run deeper than Manny and I'm cautiously optimistic some of them will finally get addressed, but Manny is a symptom of the larger problems and he needs to go.

@troyskiles - Here's my question for you: If UM parts ways with Manny, where do you think he ends up next? Some options to choose from:

* Do you see any other power 5 program hiring him as their head coach in the next year or two?
* Do you see him going to a group of five program as a head coach?
* Do you see him taking a power 5 Defensive coordinator job?
* Do you see him taking a group of five defensive coordinator job?

1 without question, it’s not even a debate for me.

Any scenario where Manny stays another season equals disaster for Miami.

Mario is not coming here next year, if we want Mario w have to get him this offseason, point, blank, period.

If Manny comes back for another season, not only will we have another barely .500 season, but it will destroy recruiting for the 2023 class & the 24 class, because he’s well known Lame Duck & is an all-around Corch.

There are several dozen better options than settling for Manny & anybody pollying to keep him has just drunk the kool-Aid & has gone full slurper mode.

Manny MUST be fired, no ifs, ands or buts about.

I know all this. But you keep trying to explain your answer with Mario Mario Mario. In this scenario, out first few choices have passed. Mario is off the table. He said no in this. As did Lane. As did Stoops. We're at like option #5 or 6. I don't even know who that is right now.

It's funny, quite a few guys here are adamant about #1. I think its a tough decision. I'd probably go #2 because I play the long game. The amount of destruction making a bad hire this round would reap would be astronomical. I am amazed no one is considering that.

I think I'd rather eat **** for a year in order to get the right guy, with a top AD in place, a chance to prove we are serious about resources, and year to work on it, and get this turnaround started a year later, rather than risk sending us into the abyss for 3+ years.

Which btw is EXACTLY what the "real" AD at USC just did. The fanbase and everyone else wanted Helton gone last year. Fire and brimstone. He wasn't bothered by message board fans and trusted his own judgment, as he should.

I see the apologists are gonna slowly start shifting to this narrative.

I'm not an apologist. Frankly I am a CEO who has started many businesses. I game things out. Always. I often make tough, unpopular choices. Sometimes the smartest choice can be the most excruciating to make. That is the game here.

To satisfy you, I will fully state that if we get to that point, it means we will have failed. I am asking what if we do get there...

But sure start pigeonholing anyone who tries to be thoughtful and think a few steps ahead. It's ok.

Yea but it took him 3 tries to do so and as I said this goes back to Butch with this hiring on the cheap sHT.zig they’d of given Butch the money he deserved he’s not leaving for Cleveland ,we’ve got a half dozen mot NC and guys are lining up 10deep to get this job when he was retiring.

This is not all on Manny this is just a continuation of the same old same old at Miami.

Comparing us to USC is comparing a mom and pop diner to a Fortune 500 company. Some people won’t like that but that’s the reality. The same tier of coach we can get this time (assuming Mario says no), will be the tier we are capable of getting next season, maybe. Another year of Diaz and the toxicity surrounding his program might just drop us even further in the grand scheme of things. But realistically, if Christobal says no we could end up with a guy like Tom Herman. And if we wait a year, that’s the exact type of coach we’ll still end up with. Why wait and let the cancer spread?

I faught perm band for threads like this Thank you @troyskiles. Also you are bat **** crazy and should have a muzzle.
I agree; it's a worthy and interesting question which was bashed with threats and ridicule when trying to present the matter in other threads (Brave TroySkiles started his own thread at great peril! Bravo!)

Some just won't admit that the top 1-5 choices may simply not be available (or possibly affordable, interested, or acceptable)... especially if certain BOT and other parties continue to seek derailment (of those 1-5, and ADs) in their misguided attempts to "save Manny".

I think the answer is yes though... as EL and others point out, the difficulty in attracting recruits and staff and prospering with a Lameduck Manny, despite 7-5 being better than 5-7 and 6-6 in my North Florida household comparisons) is that we may indeed be best off taking a nbr 7-8-9 guy, that might not be the complete cat's meow (even with the fat cat's new money.)

I also wonder if it's feasible to hire a search firm on the QT to do an "anyone better than Manny" search while keeping Manny technically unFired, in case they don't find anyone better available. (yes, I shudder at that thought.)
