everybody loves Kaaya.

we all know who his mom is. he really is a stand up, bright kid who stays out of trouble and says the right things.

and his stats are good too.

HOWEVER

he did have NFL talent all around on the offense last year. and even with that, he had key head scratching throws (fumble screen pass and overthrows vs fsu)

yes I know freshmen make mistakes, and he got to campus late. but can he really be the QB we need him to be?

can he avoid a sophomore slump?

I hate it when people criticIze someone fro having too much talent around them.. That's how ur elite with good to great players around you.. Dorsett/Walford can thank Kaaya for getting them paid w/ Ryan Williams that doesn't happen... Luck had 4 NFL linemen 2 NFL TE's and Ty Montgomery pretty sure a RB is playing in the league to..

He could of had Andre Johnson & Reggie Wayne out there, he was 3 months removed from highschool

I agree with the sentiment behind this post. Some fans and even national writers hold the view that Kaaya is elite but in my opinion that has yet to be proven. No denying that Kaaya had a very, very good Freshman year, especially given the circumstances. He came in just a few months before the season and won the starting job. Further, for the most part, he displayed veteran maturity and posie. He has the measurables, physical ability, and football intelligence to be great. But just because he has the prerequisites for greatness doesn't mean he'll be elite. This season we'll see if he can make that jump. I think he will but many don't.

Yes he's that good. He elevated the play of Clive walford and dorsett. The team led by freshman qb kaaya was actually in a position to win the fsu game at the end of the 4th quarter something that can't be said for Morris... Or jacory after his sophomore season win vs fsu

In words of Al Golden: "it all starts with him!"
Kaaya is an up and coming elite QB. It's not just the throws but his ability to see the whole field. His football IQ is incredibly high for a kid his age. By next year he will be calling all of his own plays (Andrew Luck did this) and if we are lucky enough to keep him his 4th year he could potentially be a top 5 pick.

he was pretty awesome for a true freshmen

i mean morris was suposed to be really good when he was getting nfl hype and kinda regressed so i can see why you might be weary but i think brad takes another step forward still plenty of talent around him on the OL and skill positions

im guessing he can improve his completion % and throw less int's

When is the last time Miami had a QB drafted in the top 5 picks?

Let's say he decomitted from us and went somewhere else last year and started and had the same stats, etc. This board would have melted the eff down in anger as we'd still be coming off a junk season with Jake-Ryan Willheaps at the helm and no real prospects at QB. At worst, Kaaya will be good this year and that alone negates the OP's question because that hasn't been the case here since Dorsey no matter how much that myth of the tennis player turned OC saving Japicky somehow grows.

Kaaya is the real deal, let's just hope Al doesn't have him drink too much "Golden Koolaid"

LMAO! @ even putting Kaaya in the same sentence as Luck...stop it.

Why? Luck had everything on his side. Care to compare olines, TEs, or maybe, just maybe, coaches? Are you kidding me? Luck's HC took team to Super Bowl a couple years later. I will be lucky if he can get a ticket to a Super Bowl in two years. Is Brad going to be as good as Luck -- I don't know but kid did extremely well as a TRUE FRESHMAN under a horrible coaching staff supported by worst defensive scheme and play calling in country. Oh, he was even a early enrollee.

Brad will go much farther than this coaching staff can take him. He is a Miami caliber QB from old school. Brains, talent, and hard working-- is he Luck? maybe not but I can see Kosar in the kid easy. Anyone remember Bernie's opening game-- not good and he was redshirt. Won title that year. You think Bernie beat NE for the NC with Al and Co coaching?

Why? He's already calling some of his own audibles! You have no clue what you're talking about or else you'd have added some kind of substance rather than blah blah blah... This kid has a ton of potential and started off on the right foot for being an 18 year old 3 months removed from high school. His biggest detriment will be our OL this season. He will make a huge leap from his junior year.

He's good. But they're putting way too much on him, man. Too much hype. He's yet to lead the team in the 4th quarter against a good team for a win. I'd feel a whole lot better if we had a killer D to set him up with short field, or could force a three and out if he makes a mistake and throws a pick. I fear it's the other way around. It's going to be on him to score points and bail the D out.

No QB looks good flat on his back.....which is where I'm afraid Kaaya will be most of this season. That OL looks like Swiss cheese.
4-8.
