I’d add Clemson to that top 5 only because recent history has shown 2 things:

1. Can win the national championship
2. Big time money tossed around that the NCAA has not cared to investigate

These are the teams that will make an occasional college football playoff once every 5-6 years while the top 6 are consistanly in the top 3. If they expand the playoffs it won't matter either. It will just give the false hope and perception that more teams "have a chance."

College Football might be as good as ever, especially at the top. The Alabama-Clemson rivalry will be the thing of legends. It'll be talked about when ESPN does the College Football 200 anniversary or whatever.

We are just fans of an absolute **** show at the moment and it clouds our view.

I do think though, there will be a landscape change soon, though. Probably players getting paid - which will help schools in major metros rise again (aka us, USC). Similar paradigm shift to when college football instituted scholarship limitations.

Yes, it’s the protected class of cheaters and then everyone else. The massive public land grant universities with rabid fan bases willing to do whatever it takes to win, backed by an NCAA with their self interest aligned with those same universities, leaves the rest of CFB out in the cold, and no one in the media cares to discuss the elephant in the room.

Well said.

Yes college football is dead. There are only 5-6 with a legit shot st winning it all. The rest are just there. The money and teams throwing it around like they’re printing it will be the death to the sport.

I hope Congress and everyone start passing laws to pay the players. That will fundamentally blow up college football and then we can begin somewhere.
it would also help us out and usc

Both private schools in big markets. If the U is winning all of south florida will rally behind miami and usc had that in LA till two pro teams came in but I think LA would be all about USC if they started playing like they did when PC was HC

Bring back the BCS computer rankings n ditch the committee. You get rid of the corruption of playing favorites.

What you're advocating wouldn't solve the problem and/or would only exacerbate the difference between the programs throwing around money and those not to such an extreme level that you actually would kill the sport.

Tossing the kids a few extra grand a year or allowing them to get a kickback from the bookstore on jersey sales will solve nothing as the big side money will still be at the programs that pay.

Allowing players to profit off their own names/likenesses will only be massively abused by the programs that pay as well. You'll have every 4 star recruit and above being made promises from every booster and car dealership within 300 miles of Hilljack SEC towns.

I actually answered what I think would happen a peg or two later. I think that would fundamentally blow up the current system and we’d have something vastly different.

I just don't buy into the notion that 90% of the programs would then alienate the "big spenders" and force them into some sort of compliance.

One only needs to look at how inept the Big Ten and Texas have been (the real alumni $ as far as institutions participating in big time college sports) in ceding sooooo much power to the SEC and their chief cheerleader/wannabe good ol' boy in Mark Emmert.

I guess my point is that most school won’t tey to compete with them. They will drop a lower division. Most schools who have a football program lose money now as it is. What do you think is going to happen once they have to pay the players? Better yet what happens when they lose their tax exempt status

The media is corrupt all the way around---sports, politics.....all of it.

The mainstream media is phenomenal. The great protector.

The social media versions are not merely corrupt, they lie and mislead with shameless agenda.

Naturally the SAMs are petrified of the actual media. It is the most logical correlation of all. Simplistic Angry Males don't want reality described as reality. They want their tortured value system and view of the world to spread everywhere.

That's why White Right Wing American Males are the most laughably grotesque subset on the planet right now, especially the older models:

Yep, skin pigment and chromosomes cause all the problems in the world...You try so hard to be clever... But in doing so, your true beliefs come shining through. Nice work, Chairman Mao.

I find soy drinking ANTIFA **** boys as the most laughably grotesque subset in America. The term Alt Right or Right Wing has been perverted. Now simply generalizing someone as racist, homophobic, or Alt Right is acceptable to most of the media without actual proof. It's quite pathetic that anyone could be ignorant to biases either way.

I've had that question too. I know the fact that we still suck (and have for years) certainly biases me.

Also, Alabama has made football not fun. Saban really is ruining the game with this ridiculous success.

Miami had it rolling late nineties, early 2000 unfortunately for whatever reason we couldn't keep our coach, and we hired a caretaker who really had no business running the top team in the country. Right after Larry, it just seems that we been on probation its effects forever. Good grief we haven't been at 85 players it seems like forever. We can't red shirt cause it always seems we have freshmen and sophomores always in the top two at multiple positions. There has to be a better roster management, we don't even have a good walk on program, so we can't let dead weight just take up roster spots for years: How do guys like Milo, Martin, etc stay on a roster for years if not contributing, that's the culture problem these guys are just happy to hang on.
