Is Butch Davis too old?

We've seen it happen to Steve Spurrier. We've seen it happen to Bobby Bowden. We've seen it happen to Frank Beamer.

At what point does a coach start to lose the fire and energy to deal with hoards of eighteen year old kids?

At what point do other colleges start using age to recruit against you, telling kids that your guy won't be there when they graduate?



At first I was all about BBB, but the more I think about it, the more I think we should go another direction. The time to hire Butch Davis was 10 years ago, when he went to North Carolina.

Better to go all in on this guy....

Butch is the greatest talent evaluator and developer there ever was.

He was an average gameday X's and O's coach.

And now he's old, which concerns me.
