Is Brad Kaaya having the best season ever for a true frosh?

How many other teams had such a screwed up recruiting mess at the QB position that it forced them to start a true freshman? Thanks Randy, thanks Al.

Not comparing them. J.Holieway was an option QB, but he had the most success as a True Freshman QB.

I think the fact he was an option QB makes a huge difference. This comparison should be made with true frosh qbs that actually threw the ball and not playing as an extra running back.

This kid is really special. Don't get tired if talking about him.

As a true freshman, Jamelle Holieway led Oklahoma to a National Championship in 1985.

Holieway was a big player in our 80s rivalry with the sooners....nice call pimp.

nice call??? He went back to the 80's to find an option qb who I'm almost positive completed less than 30 passes the entire season at OU. As the OP said you're going to be hard pressed to find a true freshman qb who isn't an athlete and is doing what BK is doing primarily by sitting in the pocket and slinging the ball around.

The fact that you really have to research it should be evidence enough that the young kid is having a special season. I'll wait for him to finish before making that assessment!

Let me end this now. Here is one:

Kevin Kolb

Year School Conf Class Pos G Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A AY/A TD Int Rate
*2003 Houston CUSA FR QB 13 220 360 61.1 3131 8.7 9.3 25 6 153.8

I know right...isnt that crazy! Imagine what his stats might have been if we didnt pull him early in three games as well.

Conference USA defenses though? Sure Miami is in the ACC but the schedule has been at least decent.

I don't know.. Ken Dorsey had some pretty sick stats both his Junior & Senior season here.

Tough call.

Christian Hackenberg 2013 - 231 for 392 for 2955 yards 58.9% - 7.54 ypa - 20 TD - 10 INT - 21 sacks - QB Rating 134.0
Brad Kayaa 2014 - 144 for 233 for 2087 yards 61.8% - 8.96 ypa - 20 TD - 9 INT - 14 sacks - QB Rating 157.6

RS has noting to do with that. All on Folden.

when golden took over we had only harris a senior and morris a sophomore

great depth

You guys are professionals at making excuses. When Folden took over he had a senior to be quarterback in Harris and a sophomore in Morris. Harris started Foldens first year. Morris started Foldens 2nd and 3rd years. The fact that he is starting a true freshman in his fourth year is entirely his fault. The sorry son of a Beeeyatch had for years to recruit his quarterbacks.

Let's look at the facts. What happened to Grey Crow? What happened to Dewey whatever? What happened to David Thompson? I guess that's Randy Shannon s fault too. LMAO

You guys are coward excuse makers.

OFFENSE
QB Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M
Johnny Football
Year: 2012
Buzz: He became the first freshman to win the Heisman and it came on the heels of a phenomenal campaign. Manziel threw for 3,706 yards and 26 TDs (with a 68.0 completion percentage) and also ran for 1,410 yards and 21 TDs -- making him responsible for 5,116 yards (an SEC single-season record) and 47 TDs. His yardage in total offense is an FBS record for freshmen, and the rushing total is an FBS record for freshman quarterbacks.

The kid from upstate had a much better Freshman year..
do people not understand what OP means by "true freshman"?

You gotta be kidding. Most don't understand what a real Head Coach is.

Off the top of my head RG3 had a pretty ridiculous true freshman season at Baylor. I don't know how it stacks up statistically to Kaaya's though. I don't have the time to look it up, but I'd like to see a comparison if someone has the time. Thanks!

Started 11/12 games - 2091 yds, 15 TDs, 3 INTs, 59.9 comp %

Though he did enroll early for Spring Ball and Kaaya did not.
