Is Brad Kaaya having the best season ever for a true frosh?

Off the top of my head RG3 had a pretty ridiculous true freshman season at Baylor. I don't know how it stacks up statistically to Kaaya's though. I don't have the time to look it up, but I'd like to see a comparison if someone has the time. Thanks!

Started 11/12 games - 2091 yds, 15 TDs, 3 INTs, 59.9 comp %

Though he did enroll early for Spring Ball and Kaaya did not.

RG3 enrolled early for Track.

Also Ghost does that account for his rushing stats? I thought he had more TDs...also rushing yards were a big boost.

I think that he had statistically one of the best true freshman seasons I've ever seen. Other than that...maybe Chad Henne had a big TF season. I think Kaaya is better than the rest though (apart from a few that we're missing). And its not even close.

There have been some good true frosh QB's over the years. Living in Tennessee, I saw Peyton Manning and Eric Ainge both excel as freshmen. Matt Barkley looked like the real deal at USC during his freshman season as did Mitch Mustain at Arkansas. Teddy Bridgewater was also great as a freshman.

And for the record, I think Kaaya will be fine on Saturday..

Manning was meh as a freshmen, think he had like 1100 yds ,11td and 6/7 int. He had some glimpses of what was on the horizon but was up and down majority of the games he started. Looked like a Fr.

I believe Philip Rivers had a very good true fr year , low comp percentage but 3000 yards and 25 td. Only 10 int

No. Three terrible losses to bad teams, and NO wins over good teams. Not impressive. LOTS of HS QBs could have come in and finished 3rd or 4th in the AWFUL Coastal. Doesn't take any skill or talent to get blown out by UL, NU and GT.

I agree with this. Manning was expected to RS his frosh year, but the starter got injured in the first series of the first game against UCLA. Manning eventually won the job about midway through the season and got better each week..

this post has all the years by true freshman QBs from 2008-2013 http://www.footballstudyhall.com/2013/8/17/4630390/so-youre-starting-a-true-freshman-quarterback

if you go simply by QB rating, brad's current number of 157.6 is a good bit better than any of them including terrelle pryor (the highest at 145.6), robert griffin, braxton miller, teddy bridgewater and matt barkley.

going back before that (based on this http://texas.247sports.com/Board/21/Contents/Who-is-the-best-true-freshman-QB-of-all-time-6539697) brad is performing much better than chris leak (132), chad henne (132), matt stafford (108), jimmy clausen (103), brady quinn...

QB rating isn't the end all be all stat or anything but it's a pretty good shorthand number and it looks like brad has anyone from the past 10-12 years beat.

so he's having a pretty **** good season.

Talk about best frosh QB ever is silly, fantasy stuff. Having said that, Manziel won Heisman as a redshirt frosh. And the notion that Deshaun Watson is having a much better year than Kaaya is wrong. Kaaya has started every game, including tough road games at Louisville, Nebraska, Ga Tech (unfortunately losses, though doesn't bare total blame). He won the job outright. Watson didn't start till the fourth game and because of injury has only three starts. He hasn't started a game on the road. First road test is Saturday at Ga Tech.

I'd take Kaaya in a heartbeat, but Watson's stats match up. 1176 yards, 67% completions, 12 TD and 2 INT, 186 QB rating with 147 rushing yards and 3 more TD.

Two things to take out of this thread. 1- Pimp tight actually posted something of value for the first time and Smoky continued his string of never doing so.

Anyone that thinks Kaaya is better than Manziel and Winston the last couple years is a moran.

Neither of them played as TRUE freshman so they are not being compared. Kosar didn't either. One of the amazing things about Kaaya is he is a TRUE freshman. I don't think even Jim Kelly started first game of freshman season. That kid out at USC did a few years back. Forgot his name. I really can't think of any others, especially in on a passing team.

Lol

I'm glad this board, which gives itself credit for a banner that really "changed things", doesn't know the difference between a Redshirt freshman and a true freshman.

Kaaya is going to have 30 td passes and less than 15 int's less than 6 months after his high school prom. He is the definition of the truth.

Good call Rex Karz. Sucks that we have the best freshman QB in the country. Definitely seems like we should be mad about that.

Brad is having an amazing season. If he maintains his QBR it will be the second highest full-season QBR at Quarterback U trailing only Vinny Testverde's last season in Coral Gables. And this as a true freshman who wasn't here in Spring. It's very much is in the conversation as the best season ever for a true freshman QB. For any of this to matter though, he has to close the season strong.

Most of the board considers themselves real knowledgeable in football but they dont know what true frosh means

Kaaya is a special player, no question. The way he's grown since the UL game is remarkable. I like the fact that he's shown both the ability to sling it for big yardage AND be a game manager. He looks completely comfortable in both roles which is rare for any QB, much less a true freshman.

I preface this with the fact that Kaaya is certainly not the best true freshman QB, but you are a ******* idiot for trying to make this point. Never go full potato.
