is anyone else uncomfortably confident?

The 7 top 30 offenses we have faced we have held teams to an average of just over 100 yards LESS per game than their average

Heading in to Ole Miss the first 6 we played averaged 20 LESS points. Ole Miss skewed that a little bit with us holding them to only 10 under their average so it drops it down to roughly 18 or so on the season

Indiana averages 461 and 43 points

361 and 25 points for Indiana in this one? Been feeling a 27-24 type of win for Miami anyway and that would track pretty well

(This was just a quick check so might not be 100% accurate)
I predicted they score 30 which is 10+ under their average. That's reasonable don't you think? I remember you from the WEZ...

Remember when a lot of people thought Miami was the best team in the country? They let two losses cloud their judgement. Miami is the best team in the country, and without those two close losses, we'd be the favorite going into this game. Indiana got lucky against Penn State, or they'd have an Alabama/FSU type loss on their schedule. They got lucky against Ohio State with their kicker missing a chip shot. The Iowa game could have been a loss.

I have always felt too much was put on purely Ws and Ls. A bounce here or there and we win both of those games. A bounce here or there and they lose a couple as well. We're talking one possession losses, and wins. It does not make one team far superior just because they got a little extra lucky, while the other had ACC officials ******** them.

We are the better team. Just because they beat down some bad teams doesn't mean they will beat us down. We have played a tougher schedule, and certainly have been more battle tested in the playoffs. We are ready.
Dont forget Old Dominion ran for 218 yards against them. Fletcher and Brown should feast

i keep telling myself, "they won 15 games" ... in a row ...

but styles make fights and they have a style that we match up with awfully well ... they lack the size needed on their defensive line ... they have good skill positions, not game changing ... their linebackers are active but smaller, which plays into the hands of our double team block scheme ...

then there's mendoza ... he's the heisman, overall #1 pick ... but for some reason i'm confident we can "contain" him ... it's crazy
I'm feeling pretty good. Being -7.5 is a good thing. Balances out being overconfident playing at home. Us against the world has worked well. Gotta punch them in the face out of the gate.

I assumed we’d get screwed & ND get in. After that, I went into playing with house $$ mode & have thoroughly enjoyed watching us dominate these playoffs. Win or lose, I’m good. My heart is full. Proud of this team.

In saying that..

Couldn’t agree more. I’m going to enjoy myself no matter what on Monday. Of course, I’m hoping we win, but either way, I’m still so proud of these boys and every week I have been excited for the opportunity to get to see Bain and Mesidor and Mauigoa and Scott and Beck and all the others play just one more game. We know they will fight as hard as they can, and the coaches are giving it all they’ve got, so that’s all we can ask for.

How cool is it that we get to give these kids a send off in their home stadium in the national championship?

Stats are just stats for a reason so anything is possible of course

We’ve been remarkably consistent on defense all year though for sure

Not a single team has scored 30 on us all year though and we have faced better statistical offenses than Indiana

I’ll let you know more what I think after I see how our OL handles their DL. I could eat the **** out of these words but if one team is winning by double digits here I think it’s us

Confident? Yes.
Uncomfortably confident? No

Iowa, Penn st, Ohio st - all physical teams, all held IU offense in check. All held Mendoza to at or under 65% completion rate. Penn st ran on them. Iowa ran for 92.

Our trenches are better than those teams. Oline is better than Penn st and dline is better than Ohio st.

But, all 3 of those teams gave IU the ball in 1st and goal or near 1st and goal territory.

We have to play our game and we cannot give IU the ball deep in our territory or stall drives with dumb penalties.

Mesidor has to truly be a full go. Moten as well. Frederique needs to stay healthy, ar least until Lucas can get in.

If we turn the ball over and commit a bunch of penalties, we lose. If we don't, we win.

20-14 good guys.

The game is about us not them. If we come in unfocused, then that will lead to an unpleasant outcome. If we come in focused, we win by 2 or more scores. If we're half way focused, it's anyone's game. But, it is about us and our mental state. If we both bring our A games, we win by 2 scores.

We can and will stop them to a degree. If we've focused, they won't be able to stop us on offense.

I'm still feeling: Miami 27 - Hoosiers 17
