Is Al Golden the Savior?

Might not be a bad hire, as bad as we get on Golden he absolutely can spot talent and New Jersey is not that bad of an area to recruit from and Golden most likely relate to north eastern kids more to bring guys to Rutgers. I like Schiano there as well
Golden wasn’t a fit for so fla. in fairness he recruited with one hand behind his back and still found a ton of nfl talent. His program the defensive scheme and also putting the brakes on coley when he had leads

If Golden would've just fired Donuts and hired a real DC and let him run it, he might have pulled it off at the U. Truly is a shame.
Still pretty amazing they were able to recruit all that talent to play in that D

He’s like a boxer who can’t pull the trigger. Wants to win on points instead of a knockout. He coaches scared.

Yes!
Would really like to see him get a shot as a HC again.
Notwithstanding his other pluses and minuses. I still vividly remember him immediately running out on the field to see (an injured) Malcom Lewis. 👍
I kind of agree with this as my anger for golden has steadily diminished since the end of 2005. My question is do you think he brings the kiss of death NoD with him to Rutgers if he gets the job?

Folks- we have located the CiS account Al or Coach No D: @Cane47 No one else would neg this post.

I thought for a second @Cane47 might be Al’s wife but I doubt even she likes that banana slug enough to bother.

This would coincide with his contract with Miami. He was signed in 2011 for 4 years and then extended an additional 5 at the end of the season.

I’m gonna go with ...... NO ..... on that one.😉

I could not disagree more. It is incomprehensible to me that people think Golden had what it takes to be a great HC and it was just his stubborn butt buddy who undid him. That’s an insane interpretation, IMO.
It’s comical that people say, “if Al Golden replaced his entire staff, he would have been great.”

1. Yeah, no **** lol
2. Al Golden intentionally alienated the fanbase, to the point that two coaching tenures later the fans still don’t trust the administration. Dude did maximum possible damage to this entire program.

The real question is - would Rutgers be so foolish as to not look at what destroyed him at the U and make the same mistake?

Golden has certain strengths, but he allowed his weaknesses to overcome those strengths.

You’re better off when you take the high toad and at least try to make some kind of reasoned substantive response.
Posting stuff like this just makes you look immature and silly.

K. Keep me posted.

Sorry if it was misdirected, but my response was meant for @Ethnicsands, not you. Will edit my response now.

P.S. @We the Boss
Actually I initially thought @Ethnicsands wrote the following comment [ Folks- we have located the CiS account Al or Coach No D: @Cane47 No one else would neg this post. My bad as to whoever I misdirected my prior post and All Good regardless. ;)

If Schiano went back...they would be relevant again....for real.

No chance. That 11-2 season in 2006 was an anomaly. Look at what the guy did after that—a few 8-5 seasons, 9-4, 4-8 and 9-4 again—and that was almost a decade ago.

Schiano is washed up and that whole "cutting wood" culture he used as his platform back in the day—kids aren't going to respond to that anymore. Different breed of players nowadays.

We are talking about Rutgers...they would go fanatic to have multiple 9-4 seasons with an 11-2 seaaon thrown in. He had a good program there that produced NFL players and was in top 25. He should of never left there...he was revered...
Personally I cant stand him based off feedback from some former players but Rutgers was by far the worst P5 progtam in America before he got there.

If by savior you mean make them respectable, then sure. Perfect fit IMO.

Golden hated being at Miami. He tried like **** to get out early. The D that sucked was Golden’s, also. There is ZERO reason to think Al Golden would have been good if only anything. Golden was the problem, not the victim.

Not that bad? Jersey is seriously fertile recruiting grounds

Why? The only reason why FSU has had success in the past is because of Bobby Bowden, Fisher took over at a good time but now that Willie is there that program is fooked. Willie will put them in a bigger whole than Jimbo left them. They are finding out what making a bad head coaching hire feels like.
That's the point. If they were looking at hiring somebody else, there's always a chance they'd get it right.

Specific to Rutgers ALONE-

Alfredo and Chimpboy somehow together there would be a good fit. Give em both $2 mil each. Let Alfredo pretend to be CEO and give Chimpboy total control of the defense. That probably eventually gets Rutgers to around 8 or 9 wins. Occasionally.
