I will say this... Adidas is a HUGE reason we could hire a coach like Mark Richt. For that reason alone, you won't hear me cry about uniforms for quite some time.

Based on what evidence? Miami tried to hire Richt before we moved to Adidas. Don't mistake our last several bad choices as financial inability to hire well.

Based on the 75 million they are giving us over a ten year period. They want us to win to get a good return on their investment. We hire cheap, again, they aren't happy.

Let me ask you this. If we were making a serious run at Mark Richt in the past, why the **** did we settle on guys like Randy Shannon and Al Golden? I'll tell you why. We weren't going to pay a coach top dollar. Not even Mark Richt. Now, after the Adidas deal we just coincidentally decide to pay the going rate for a real coach? I don't believe that. If we were ever serious about Mark Richt, and paying for a quality coach like Mark Richt, we never settle for bargain basement hires like Al Golden and Randy Shannon. Nah, we might have been interested in Richt if he wanted to coach for 2 mil a year, but that's about it.

You're a good dude, but I can't seriously discuss this with you if you think adidas had anything to do with UM hiring Richt. You're way too far out in the pasture if you're thinking that way.

I agree.To me the uniforms kinda suck compared to the Nike ones but the money from Adidas had to play a part in the increase in coaches salaries which allowed us to hire a top coach like Richt and his assistants,no doubt.

Or could it be that we settled for less because Donna was our president? She settled on Randy Shannon for under $1 million, jizzed her granny panties because Golden had a 300 page binder, didn't fire him after he went 6-7 in year 4 and it was obvious the ship had sunk.. Then, just by coincidence, she retires, we fire Golden mid year, spend $4+ million on Richt, and are days?/weeks? away from announcing an ipf.

There is the reason. The troll. All blame shall be directed toward Donna Shalala.
 
So 75 mil into the athletic department had absolutely no impact on us spending more money on a coaching staff? Am I to think 75 million into an athletic department would somehow have no effect on hires or athletic investments?

Well, the Adidas deal came down the pike as she was heading out the door. I don't like Shalala, at all, and I don't doubt she had a hand in going cheap with those hires. And perhaps had she stayed we hire cheap again. I'm just saying, an extra 7.5 mil A YEAR into the athletic department leaves them with absolutely no excuses for going cheap, again. That's a LOT of money. Certainly a lot more than Nike ever gave us.

It's really about $3-4 million (cash) a year in the athletic department. It's half cash, half apparel for that $7.5 per year figure. The cash is distributed throughout all sports, not just football. I think redoing the Hecht was the first real effect of the deal. We always could have paid a coach if we wanted to. But the issue was Shalala didn't want to.

With a final two of Edsall and Golden, we weren't offering the kind of money it would have taken to get Coach Richt back in 2010-2011. The Adidas contract helps with that.
